Yet Another White House Party

By Wyatt Earp | July 19, 2010

Barack and Michelle Obama are preparing to host a gala in the White House tonight, as Broadway comes to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Maybe I misread the articles, but didn’t the Obamas just get back from vacation – their 7th – yesterday? I guess being president is haaard, and he should be allowed some down time.

Tony Award winners Nathan Lane, Audra McDonald, Tonya Pinkins and Marvin Hamlisch are part of “A Broadway Celebration: In Performance at the White House” July 19 in Washington, DC.

The Broadway-themed evening is presented as part of the White House’s “In Performance” concert series. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama host the 7 PM concert that will be filmed for an Oct. 20 broadcast on PBS.

I guess the wars, the economy, and the oil spill will have to be put on the back burner. Again. These people are a real piece of work.

“I guess the wars, the economy, and the oil spill will have to be put on the back burner.”

Not to mention a potential strike by the cast of Jersey Shore.

Nero fiddled while Rome burned. But they didn’t have golf back then.

The “leader” of the free world……..

I’d be laughing but it’s not funny anymore………..

Please give the President a break here. It was very difficult loading Bo and one staff member onto another private plane and getting them to Maine.

Not to mention booking a tee time, getting the ice cream and choosing Michele’s wardrobe.

It takes a lot of hard work destroying a country. Obama needs all of the rest and recreation to rejuvenate himself, feel fresh and blame Bush 44 for all of the country’s problems.

    So, be nice to BHO.

Randal – Although he never drives into East St. Louis. “Roll ‘em up!”

John D – Look, the POTUS deserves a break once in a while. But with Gulf coast still choking on oil, unemployment on the rise, and the deficit heading into the stratosphere, he probably needs to be in the White House. Not on vacation, and not campaigning for Democrats.

LDIV – It’s sad when Sarkozy and Merkel can make that claim now.

Ferrell – It’s okay. A recent poll claimed Obama is the 15th best president ever. Seriously. A little premature, in my opinion.

Just once I’d like to see a president pick 300 people out of the phone book [if he could still find a phone book] and invite some random Americans to a White House soiree. Afterall, it’s called the “People’s House” right history buff Wyatt?

Another DNC Fundraiser at the White House.
How much is this costing the taxpayer?

Vacations, Parties, failure on most everything he tries to do or does not do….Pretty much a pointless pResidency as I see it!

He’s just partying like there is no 2012.

Robert- Interestingly, I just watched the movie 2012. Even the human disaster, Obama, looks good next to that movie.

AJ – It’s supposed to be, but real people haven’t been invited inside for many, many years.

Madmedic – But, but, he’s the greatest president evah!

Robert B. – If his poll numbers stay the same, there may not be.

I think Andy Jackson was the last prez where the average citizen could just walk in and talk to him.
I’m sure if the punch goes bad it will be GWB’s fault.

Hmm…the video of this party/[off]broadway play is to air on 20 Oct? Isn’t that perilously close to 2 Nov?

I doubt that they have yet connected that midterm date yet.

This reminds me of my “neighbors” in the ghettohood…it’s ALL about entertainment and partying.
    Live for TODAY…ONLY.
    Forget about yesterday AND tomorrow.

Helluva way to go through life, isn’t it?
(and at the expesne of everyone else who’s carrying you through that life)

Maybe the MAYANS were onto something about 2012.

    Stay safe.
