Softball Babe Jennie Finch To Retire
By Wyatt Earp | July 22, 2010
Jennie Finch: A first ballot SYLG Hall of Fame Babe.
Jennie Finch may go down in history as the greatest softball player of all time. She’s the Babe Ruth of the sport. Of course, she’s more Babe than Ruth, but she has pitches that would burn a hole through most bats – and most people. After a long and storied career, Jennie has decided to hang up her spikes next month.
Sadly, she will not be hanging them in my bedroom.
OKLAHOMA CITY — Jennie Finch had no trouble dazzling everyone. The striking blonde with the unhittable stuff was the most dominant softball pitcher of her time, giving her sport a new face just as it was starting to really catch on in the United States.
But after 10 years of playing internationally, Finch is turning her focus to her family and her desire to have more children. The 29-year-old Finch announced Tuesday that she’ll play one more week with the U.S. team and retire from the sport next month when the National Pro Fastpitch season is over.
“This whole career has been way more than I ever even imagined or dreamed,” Finch said. “The opportunities that I’d be able to enjoy and appreciate and be a part of, it’s been incredible.”
Finch won gold at the 2004 Olympics in Athens and silver four years later in Beijing. Earlier this month, she helped the U.S. win its seventh straight world championship.
The sports world just got a little more homely. You’ll be missed, Jennie.

*sigh*
She was at the All-Star Lengends softball game, too. Better looking than some of the Victoria’s secret models of anchoresses they had in that lineup…

A friends daughter went to a softball clinic that she put on. Holy cow, the photos they had of her were amazing. She is totally a hottie.

Captain – God, I hope not!
Fenway – She’s stunning. And she has unbelievable athletic ability.
Ingineer66 – And a natural babe. No need for the makeup shotgun.

If she was tired of pitching, I’d let her catch for a while. I wish her the best in retirement.July 24th, 2010 at 11:22 am
