Another Black Eye For The Philly PD
By Wyatt Earp | July 30, 2010

I am posting this story without much comment, because every time I think about it, the bile comes up. Feel free to fire away in the comments section, as I’ll be in my basement, wondering what happened to my department.
The alleged incident occurred early Tuesday morning at Pat’s Café on Castor Avenue in the city’s Frankford section. The bar is the same location where Officer Gary Skerski was shot and killed during an armed robbery in May 2006.
According to sources, three on-duty officers responded to a burglary alarm at an auto body shop near Pat’s Café. The robbery turned out to be unfounded, so sources say the three officers, two patrolmen and a sergeant with the K-9 Unit, investigated the nearby bar just before 4:30 a.m.
Sources said the officers found the basement door to be open and entered the establishment. [O]ne of the patrolmen poured himself a drink and then examined a nearby safe that was found open. The officer allegedly removed three canvas bags from the safe, each containing $275, and placed them into his pants.
Throwing your life away for $825? Hope it was worth it.

Ugh. It’s this sort of bullshit that feeds the “cops are bad guys” mentality, and thereby directly endangers the lives of all the damn good cops out there. Makes me sick too, man. I’m of the opinion that when a cop commits a crime, they should get double punishment for it- and possibly a public caning as a “you should have known better” reminder.

Sad. The two officers on the scene who weren’t responsible could have been at risk for physical harm, too. So awful in so many ways.
How convenient the guy went nutso today, too. Throwing away your career and your family for $825.

Hmmm…
Cops responding to burglary call uh…commit burglary?
That’s funny in a sick and twisted way.
Kinda reminds me of a story here from a few years back. Guy opened up a glass repair/window shop and spent his evenings drinving around town and shooting people’s windows with a BB gun.

Don’t you know these are just poor, misguided souls?
My a** they are.
Diqheads.

Are they in training to be politicians?

Dude I was shocked to see this for a couple of reasons: one I drive by this place every time I go to work and didn’t know this was the bar where P.O. Skerski was murdered. Two- WDF are these guys thinking? Three- It has to be the standards anymore. They are so low that you get what you pay for. UGH!

Where there was plenty of room, because he had no balls.

So how did he get caught, to be charged? Didn’t see that from any part of the story. The other two apparently didn’t see it, was there a camera watching it or something?

A Real Damned fool.

Good gawd…..$825 from the break-in (while investigating a break-in) and $6,000 earlier for the drug sale disguised as traffic stop.
I would’ve though cops on the take had a higher price take than that….

Fenway – you’d think this was Chicago…

Has the Philadelphia PD lowered its hiring standards or something…?
Jeez. I thought the cops were generally supposed to weed out folks who were likely to do something that stupid during the hiring and training process…

Wyatt,
Fish like this stink from the head down.
If the City and Command were respected, honest and had integrity this type of thing in the ranks would be unthinkable.
