Mosque Being Built Near Ground Zero

Worse still, the mosque is set to open on the ten-year anniversary of the Islamic attacks: September 11, 2011.
Outraged family members and community groups are accusing a Muslim group of trying to rewrite history with its plans to build a 13-story mosque and cultural center just two blocks from Ground Zero, where Islamic extremists flew two planes into the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.
“This is a place which is 600 feet from where almost 3,000 people were torn to pieces by Islamic extremists,” said Debra Burlingame, whose brother died in the attack on the Pentagon that day.
“I think that it is incredibly insensitive and audacious really for them to build a mosque, not only on that site, but to do it specifically so that they could be in proximity to where that atrocity happened,” said Burlingame, who is co-founder of 9/11 Families for a Safe and Strong America.
Of course it’s insensitive! And yet no one within “the Religion of Peace” seems to mind that this is mere yards from where nineteen of their members slaughtered 2,996 Americans.
The 13-story mosque and cultural center will be built on the site of a four-story building that was a Burlington Coat Factory retail store until 9/11, when part of a plane’s landing gear crashed through the roof. The building, which will be razed, currently houses a mosque.
In short, this abomination is a big Islamic “Frak you!’” to America. I wonder what would happen if I decided to build a Roman Catholic church in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia?
The New York City Mayor’s office says “It’s private property, and the area is zoned for uses that include this one.”
Really? Mayor Bloomberg thinks that this is a good idea? If so, then he and his administration should be run out on a rail. They have truly forgotten.

Well we all know the President hasn’t picked a church yet. Perhaps this could be it.
Heard about this crap last week. I would assume that New Yorkers would somehow come to their senses and put a stop to this. You’ve got about 3000 people turning over in their graves ( under ground zero ’cause they have no real graves) that you have to respect. Another sad day for America.

Roger – Bloomberg is a New Yorker and his office is fine with it. Of course, he also thought a Tea Party guy set the car bomb in Times Square, so we know where his feelings on terrorism lie. Anywhere but with Islam.
Randal/Sully – Actually, it’s radical Islam’s fault. Maybe if America started treating them as the enemy instead of a bunch of misunderstood miscreants with an axe to grind, things like this mosque placement would never happen.
It’s worse than “insensitive”, it’s provocative. It’s their way of honoring the frakkin’ cowards that killed men women and children on 9/11. Rather than distancing themselves or drawing a distinction between themselves and the terrorists, they show solidarity with them.
Disgusting.

Now to be fair if the founders/owners/contractors etc. have met with NYC officials and planned to have solidarity ceremonies with Chrisitans and Jews, and to speak out at its opening against their radical elements etc. etc. etc., work hand in hand with anti radical groups, etc. etc. it would still be insensitive of them, at the very least. BUT..what are the odds of any of that?? LOL One can only hope the CIA etc. can infiltrate the builders, plant bugs etc., and get some valuable intel as time goes on, and it will be a good place to keep an eye on them, get photos of perps etc.
And New York has had a rash of toppling cranes over the last few years also, right? Maybe the Mafia can appropriate
some equipment now and then, inspectors can always
find something, there are ways Ladies and Gentlemen, there are ways.

Maybe we should build a Marine Recruiting station next door to it. Nothing says peace and love like the Marines do.

Once again Michael Bloomberg demonstrates that he’s an idiot. Building this mosque in the very shadow of 9/11 is like hiring Albert Speer to design a Holocaust memorial.
Remember when New York had a real mayor? Forget the presidency, we really need Rudy Giuilani back in the mayor’s office…
IIRC, when a Saudi prince offered several million dollars to New York to assist in post-9/11 recovery efforts, Giuliani told the sheik to get bent.
Far from being apologetic that some “misguided” followers of Islam perpetrated the attack, the symbolism of opening their Ground Zero mosque on 9/11 is that they “approved this message” and they’d do it again if they could.

I would think that the New Yorkers and everyone else would be rallying against this. If it were my state, my city I would be protesting loud and clear. How insulting. Do we as Americans don’t care any more or are we giving up what we stand for?
I cannot seem to understand why the Americans cannot teach freely the history in high school of the Middle Ages. This Muslim behavior of conquering and erecting mosques is their pattern. Remember the sacking of Constantinople which they renamed Istanbul? And the Byzantine great church of Hagia Sophia which today is a mosque? It is time to take for the Americans to take their heads of the sand and wake up!!!
