Fired Philly Police Officers Reinstated
By Wyatt Earp | March 13, 2010

Eight of my fellow officers who were fired or disciplined over a videotaped arrest will get their jobs back or their punishments lessened.
BOOSH! And/or Ka-ow!
Eight police officers who were fired or disciplined in May 2008 after a television news helicopter captured them beating three shooting suspects are getting their jobs back or having their punishments reduced, police said today. An arbitrator from the American Arbitration Association has found the two officers who were terminated, Patrick Gallagher and Vincent Strain, should be reinstated.
Four other officers who were involved in the beating and later disciplined were also punished too harshly, the arbitrator also found. Three of those officers were suspended and one, a sergeant, was demoted. The arbitrator ruled those suspended should receive back pay and a reprimand.
“I don’t agree with the decision,” Ramsey said, who was criticized by some for acting too quickly by firing the officers in the weeks after the footage of the beatings hit the news. “But it is the decision of the arbitrator, and I respect that.”
Bawahahahahahahahahaha! Serves Ramsey right because the IAB investigation was not completed, none of the officers were interviewed, and the sergeant was transferred the day after the incident! Due process? Eh, not so much.
The officers should pull a Shaquille O’Neal and ask Chief Wiggum Ramsey, “Charlie, tell me how my ass tastes!”

That’s good news. I’m glad they got their jobs back.
I remember I was working a temp job downtown right after that incident happened. A bunch of people were protesting outside City Hall – handing out pamphlets that demanded all the officers involved get fired.
I was furious – partly because I hate Philly hipsters (especially the Northern Liberties types) and partly because of their ignorance of the details of the incident. All they cared to know was that race was involved, that’s all that mattered to them.
Personally, and excuse me for being politically incorrect, but I wish more Philly cops would beat the piss out of the scum in this city.
Andrew – We need Zombie Frank Rizzo back. That wouldturn things around.
Black Police Chief and white cops. Race is not an issue. lol You guys definately could use another Frank Rizzo.
[...] luck to the officers involved and stay safe. Wyatt at Support Your Local Gunfighter has more on the story. Check him [...]
Frank Rizzo, tucked a nightstick in his cummerbund and became a fashion legend. Gotta love him.
Glad to hear it!!!
Yowza!
Minuteman – I don’tthink it’s as much a racial issue as it is a personal issue. Ramsey couldn’t care less about Philly cops. He didn’t work here and he has no ties to this town. What does he care if some officers lose their jobs?
Mrs. Crankipants – He was truly one of a kind. It’s a shame his son is such a tool.
Old NFO – Rare good news for my department.
RT – Yeah, good stuff.
From what I’ve been able to gather here in my outpost in the far western burbs, Ramsey is little more than a politician, not a cop. The firings/demotions were political. The arbitrator, God be praised, acted correctly.
I’m glad to hear this. I was hoping they would get their pay too and they did.
