Barack Obama: Party Guy

By Wyatt Earp | March 1, 2010

President Barack Obama had his first physical as the leader of the free world, and the reviews have been mixed. While Obama is listed as being in excellent health, he still has a problem with smoking – tobacco, not marijuana. One would think that a man so impressive would have better will power.

Then again, maybe the president’s smoking habit is all George Bush’s fault:

Barack Obama is still struggling to kick smoking, according to his first medical examination since becoming president.

Obama is sensitive about his cigarette habit and tetchy with reporters who raise it. But after his 90-minute medical at the Navy hospital outside Washington yesterday morning, his doctors confirmed he had not yet managed to conquer the habit and suggested he “continue smoking cessation efforts”.

Obama promised Michelle when he embarked on his campaign to become president he would quit, at the time he said he was smoking about eight a day.

Wow, another broken campaign promise. Go figure. The last sentence in this story is the one that struck me, however:

The doctors also recommended “moderation of alcohol intake”.

Take that for what it is, but usually when a doctor recommends “moderation,” it’s for a reason. Is Obama hitting the bottle too hard? If so, that would explain his insistence on passing a health care bill no one wants.

Between the booze, smokes and visits by Shakira, I think it’s safe to say to the victor goes the spoils. This guy is enjoying himself… a lot!

He reminds me of Llyod Bridges in ‘Airplane’….”I sure picked a wrong day to quit smoking/drinking/sniffing glue.”

To be fair to obambi, as long as that national security emergency call comes in before 2:30 AM he should still be up. Wayyyyyyy up.

TJS – Well, like he always says, “I’m the president.”

Jon – He’ll probably be eating a bag of munchies, too.

I find it mildly amusing that Michelle is tackling obesity and healthy choices for kids and then they are around a dad who smokes and perhaps imbides a bit too often. Also his LDL ( bad cholesterol) is high and needs to come down. One of these parents isn’t practicing what the other preaches. Nothing like sending mixed signals to the youngins.

MeToo – Well, I lost a friend to lung cancer. If it happens to Obama, he’ll have no one to blame but himself . . . and George Bush.

Fred – NO!!! Send the bacon to me!

He wants to run everybody’s health care and he can’t quit smoking! Set us an example, oh wise one.
