Charlie Rangel: Corruptus In Extremis

By Wyatt Earp | February 26, 2010

New York Congressman Charlie Rangel may be the most corrupt politician in America. He has been “serving” the people of Harlem and Queens for four decades, and he has been under investigation for ethics violations and tax improprieties since 2008. Amazingly, the House Ethics Committee just found Rangel guilty of ethics violations! This must be some kind of mistake. They know Rangel is African-American, right?

Oh well, it couldn’t happen to :

WASHINGTON – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is declining to speculate on Rep. Charles Rangel’s future after the ethics committee said he violated House rules by accepting corporate-sponsored trips to the Caribbean.

The House ethics committee accused Rangel on Thursday of violating House gift rules by accepting corporate-sponsored trips to the Caribbean in 2007 and 2008. The committee said it couldn’t determine whether Rangel knew about the financing, but found that his staff did — and concluded Rangel was responsible for learning the truth.

She said “there is obviously more to come” and “we’ll just see what happens next.”

I know what should happen next. Rangel should be stripped of his Ways and Means Committee chairmanship and publicly shunned by the other members of Congress. Having said that, how many people actually think that Rangel will be disciplined?

Anyone, anyone? Bueller?

“…how many people actually think that Rangel will be disciplined?”

Won’t happen… unless Andrew Cuomo decides he wants Rangel’s job.

I thought Cuomo was more interested in Patterson’s job…

    Fenway,
Would that be the Paterson who recently found himself the subject of an investigation by the AG? Just coincidentally, of course. Or so I’ve heard.

John D – Never a big fan of Cuomo. He’s his father’s son.

Fenway_Nation – Maybe he can make it through a term without having to resign?

John D – Yeah, Paterson would have to be blind to not see the charges coming. Just sayin’.

Note that there is NO uproar to replace him… the dems are stunningly quiet on the subject… and you can bet the Rev Jessah and Al baby will be screaming if he’s replaced, much less if he gets a slap on the wrist… Far as I’m converned, NY deserves him…
