U.S. Declares War On Poland
By Wyatt Earp | November 1, 2009
How else would you explain the actions of a crew member from the USS Ramage firing a machine gun into a Polish port? First we take away their missile shield, then, when they are at their lowest point, we strike at the heart of their defenses!
Besides, it’s about time we seized their unending cache of kielbasa and sauerkraut pierogi!
A crew member aboard a U.S. Navy ship accidentally fired a machine gun into the Polish port city of Gdynia on Wednesday while cleaning the weapon, Navy officials said Friday.
Three rounds were fired from an M240 machine gun into the town but no injuries or damage were reported, officials said. The gun, aboard the USS Ramage, a Navy destroyer, is used to defend the ship in close combat.
Navy officials said a crew member was cleaning the weapon when it accidentally discharged. (H/T – CNN)
Dude, seriously? I would expect that excuse from some idiot hood rat or your average member of Congress, but from the United States Navy? Unbelievable.
If you’ll excuse me, I’m going to look for the duct tape.

Well, nine months into Clinton’s term we had the Mogadishu fiasco, now 9 months into Obama’s term we have military aircraft crashing in Afghanistan, colliding with the Coast Guard in California and now this. Is it just a coincidence that we have a commander in chief that has a disdain for the military and is cutting defense spending. Could it be that moral is down and that the leadership is collapsing from the top down?

Oooh, that’s going to leave a mark.
More precisely, that’s going to leave some stripes.
They’ll be left on the floor of the CO’s office, once the Captain’s Mast is done, and not all of them will belong to the idiot who fired off the rounds. I’d expect the idiot’s petty officer – and maybe both the officer and NCO in charge of that department aboard the USS Ramage as well – will also be looking at lighter wallets and/or reductions in rank.
And the CO and exec of Ramage will likely get black marks in their own copybooks. For that matter, given how relations between the US and Poland are going at the moment, I wouldn’t be suprised if said idiot ends up facing a court martial.
Sigh. Rule One: ALL GUNS ARE LOADED. What part of that DON’T YOU UNDERSTAND?!

Rick – I’ll see what I can dig up.
Ingineer66 – I know for a fact that morale is down. Hell, the military is feeling about as low as the PPD anymore.
Wes S. – Rule 2 is “Refer to Rule 1.”

You’ll need at least Class III duct tape Wyatt. Most probably they were not the standard ball ammo load
but the ole black tipped AP for speed boats up close so buy the tape with the plate insert pockets too.
Story..I’ll keep it short:) I have fired hundreds of thousands of rounds in my life (well tens of thousands for sure) but the first round I ever fired..I..ah..hurt myself:)
Finger slowly pulls on the trigger…Bam! Now I am faced with a burning searing pain in my shin. The concrete was finishing concrete and spalled at impact making 360 degree shrapnel of fine thin sharp edged flying knives:) LOL One piece about 3/4 inches in diameter and wafer thin, hit my shin bone deflected upwards and traveled up about 1 and 1/2 inches more just under the skin. So now I had to cover up my crime while bleeding profusely.
I was 12, my dad had got me a Remington semi auto .22
which when I was 14, I could take with me, hunting with him. Till then it would stay in his closet, we would go out to the woods or range periodically and he would teach me to safely handle it before my big field day. Well dont ya know I had to sneak into their room and practice loading it, then return the bullets to their box just so etc.
One day I decided to fire it..but where? Ah Ha! The basement I told myself, so I loaded in one round and went to the basement. Now where could I do it where it wouldn’t show? Ah Ha! Move the heavy workbench and fire into the concrete where the leg covered it and then move it back. Brilliant I declared! Grunt..push shove..done. I then put the muzzle directly onto the concrete to fire and then would inspect what damage a .22 LR could do to concrete. I was about to find out
It was also my first “self surgery” day as I remember
as I had to work the piece down and out the entry hole.
My dad never found out about that and I am glad since
it could have been worse..kids are good God Bless em, but essentially are morons for the first 14 or so years:)
Sorry if to long.

1- Don’t ask, don’t tell.
2 – Even out at sea, leave the toys to the professionals who actually know how to use them, the MARINES!
