Your Football Team: Liberal Or Conservative?
By Wyatt Earp | September 19, 2009

Have you ever wondered where your NFL team’s politics lie? No? Oh, well never mind then. Actually, I didn’t know (or really care) until I read this story at Michelle Malkin’s site. It’s interesting to see where the teams’ owners, officials, and players donated money politically. Oh, and if you find yourself leaning heavily to the right, the San Diego Chargers are the team for you.
Another big football weekend is coming up, and what better way to ruin the fun than to drag politics into the discussion?
Have you ever wondered if your favorite NFL team is predominantly Republican or Democrat? Me neither. Frankly, I wouldn’t care if the Detroit Lions — the team I’ve been stuck with for over 40 years due to a bad geographic draw at birth and an unwillingness to move over 50 miles away ever since — carried the torch for the Workers World Party if they could win just one game!
The NFL’s PAC seems to have favored Democrats, but I hope the league doesn’t lean too far to the left. Otherwise the games will be mandated to end in a 0-0 tie, the officials will confiscate all gate revenue, borrow from future concession sales for “touchdown stimulus programs” and you’ll have to give half your tailgate food to Al Gore or else it’ll be 140 degrees at game time.
Well, for me, there is good news and better news. The good news is that the Philadelphia Eagles – the team that I love to despise – is heavily Democratic. The better news is that my beloved Denver Broncos are decidedly Republican. Score!
The team-by-team results are HERE.

The MN Vikings, my team of choice, are decided Republican, bless their little purple hearts.

The Giants lean GOP too.
It’s funny, the NFL itself is decidedly GOP but the new footall league they’re trying to start gave 100% to the Dems.

Fortunately, my Chiefs went heavily Republican, too.
…On the other hand, Tony Gonzalez gave $4,600 to Obama while he was still with the Chiefs. Hey, Tony, WTF!?
Just as well he’s a Falcon now.

Easily Lost – It’s Saturday. In understand completely. Go Purple People Eaters! (Kyle has a Vikings jersey.)
Veeshir – That’s interesting. Although I don’t think the new league will get anywhere. Of course, we had season tickets to the Philadelphia Stars of the USFL in the 80’s, so . . .
Wes S. – Yeah, that Obama money will go over well in Hot-lanna.
GroovyVic – Yeah, I was shocked and appalled.

As a Colts fan, I hate John Elway, and by extension, the Broncos. :p
The NFL should have said ‘Sure, go ahead’ when that whiny crybaby threatened to play baseball rather than play for the Colts.
FWIW, I feel the same way about ‘She-li’ Manning and his posturing during the draft.
