A Construction Update
By Wyatt Earp | August 26, 2009
Well, there has been a lot of activity since the last update. When we were down the shore, the guys put the roof on, papered it, and attached the shingles. That was good news, because now we don’t have to worry about it raining in the basement anymore. It was getting rather tiresome dressing like the Morton Salt girl to go on the computer.
The windows were put in on the new floor, too, so we won’t have bats flying in from Captain America’s 700-foot tall tree. So, we’ve got that going for us.
They started taking the ugly yellow aluminum siding off the house, and that uncovered . . . the original ugly yellow wooden siding. It was then that we decided we were going to go with a different color for our siding choice. The new siding is now in, and they should be able to put that up sometime this week.
Yesterday, they put up the stairs to the new floor, so we can get upstairs and see the progress without climbing through Kevin’s old attic. But that’s not what has me excited. No, what is scheduled for today has me shivering with antici . . . pation.
The central air conditioning guy will be here today to run the lines. No more wall units. No more annoying installation. No more sweating in bed – unless we’re involved in um, extracurricular activities. Heh.
Since the beginning of the construction, the missus has been taking all types of photos. Instead of posting them as they arrive, I was thinking I would do a slideshow of the entire process, from beginning to end. We still have a month or so to go before the entire project is completed, but it’s nice that things are progressing so well. Stay tuned.

Smite – It’s getting there. They’re putting on the new siding today.
AJ – Hell, at least I work for it, unlike some members of the inner-city community.

That’s awesome! I can’t believe the same color was under the siding. Ha! Your house is going to be beautiful.

Ahhh…a story with a Rocky Horror reference.
So, how has the cost been on your addition? Any hidden expenses that you didn’t figure in? I want to add a sunroom to the back of our house and my husband was fretting about the cost/hidden costs.
