Obama: Let’s Bypass Senate On Treaty

Because, you know, it would just be so much easier for King Obama I to wave his nicotine-stained fingers and make all of his legislative wishes come true.
I know what you’re thinking: “But Wyatt, what about that pesky little Constitution thingy? Isn’t that supposed to provide checks and balances against the Chief Executive’s powers?”
Silly human. This is King Obama I we’re talking about. He has no use for the “Constipation!” To wit:
After listening to the Democrats screech for the last two years about the rule of law, this Jake Tapper report should be surprising …. but it’s not. Apparently, Barack Obama finds treaty ratification a little too complicated, and so he figures he can just commit the US to nuclear disarmament and bypass Congressional oversight:
Why is it that Jake Tapper is the one and only member of the MSM questioning the actions of King Obama I?
With the clock running out on a new US-Russian arms treaty before the previous Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, or START, expires on December 5, a senior White House official said Sunday said that the difficulty of the task might mean temporarily bypassing the Senate’s constitutional role in ratifying treaties by enforcing certain aspects of a new deal on an executive levels and a “provisional basis” until the Senate ratifies the treaty.
“The most ideal situation would be to finish it in time that it could be submitted to the Senate so that it can be ratified,” said White House Coordinator for Weapons of Mass Destruction, Security and Arms Control Gary Samore. “If we’re not able to do that, we’ll have to look at arrangements to continue some of the inspection provisions, keep them enforced in a provisional basis, while the Senate considers the treaty.”
Why? How much time will be “wasted” by following the rule of law? A few weeks? I guess King Obama I believes that there will be a terribly costly month-long arms race that will produce millions and millions of nuclear arms in that time. Idiot. Ed Morrissey brings it home:
Uh, pardon me, but how many seats in the Senate does Obama’s party hold? Isn’t it 60? If Obama is simply moving forward with a straightforward, supportable treaty with Russia to reduce nuclear stockpiles in an effective verification system, why couldn’t he get a quick ratification? The GOP gave George H. W. Bush enough support in 1991 to pass the original START treaty, so it’s not as if ratification would be impossibly complicated. (H/T – Hot Air)
Remember all of the instances where the Democrats complained about George W. Bush not upholding the rule of law? Well in this case, the Obama administration is announcing that they may be completely sidestepping it – and they are shouting the news from the highest mountaintop!!
Is no one noticing, or does no one care?

We are noticing. Thank you for helping us know what is going on. This insane administration is like an imp sitting atop a great engine, throwing sticks into the gears just to watch the rest of us scramble around trying to keep the thing working…or else he is trying to destroy it while sustaining the illusion that he is just making mistakes.

No one noticed or doesn’t care because it’s most likely a non-issue. King Obama never mentions ratifying a new treaty without the Senate.

Gail – It certainly is a head scratcher.
Randal – No, because the “senior White House official” does that for him. You can’t ratify a treaty then go back and have the Senate approve it. The laws are in place for a reason, and expediency is not a reason to bypass them.
Raptor – Whatever he does will be approved anyway, but that’s not the point. The point is that you follow the rule of law.
