A Sunday Morning Funny
By Wyatt Earp | July 5, 2009
During the first day of the 2009 NHL Draft, the Philadelphia Flyers traded two players and two first round draft picks to the Anaheim Ducks for big, bruising defenseman, Chris Pronger.
The Philadelphia Flyers have acquired defenseman Chris Pronger and forward Ryan Dingle from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Luca Sbisa, Joffrey Lupul, two first round picks and a conditional third round pick. (H/T – Flyers.com)
Personally, I thought the Flyers gave up too much for a defenseman who will be 35 when the season starts, but that’s neither here nor there. Pronger is a decent offensive presence, and he hits harder than almost any player in the league.
And with that, Deathlok sent me this: “Pronger Vision.”
Yes, I like Crosby and I love the Pens, but the Flyers come first. Besides, this is damned funny.

I said the same thing about Guerin, if you remember, and boy, was I wrong.

I miss Guerin… but that’s way too much for Pronger.

I liked the suspension odds given based on Crosby’s status. Ha!

I like the Pronger deal, Wyatt. This Flyers team missed Hatcher’s attitude on the blue line last season. And, really, Hatch was pretty damned effective in his own zone. He couldn’t skate a lick and wasn’t good in end-to-end action, but in his own zone he was very effective. Hatch could get inside people’s heads in a way no Flyer D-man could last season. Pronger brings that, plus a cannon from the point (also missing last season). Sbisa might be very good some day… might. Lupul is what he is, a nice scorer, but too damned inconsistent. He’d go on a five-game tear, then vanish for 15 games.

Hilarious.

Congratulations to Penquins for beating my beloved Red Wings to win the Stanley Cup.

Prof – If Pronger does half of what Guerin did, it’ll be worth the deal.
Sully – I agree. Too much.
RT – That’s probably low-balling. Heh, heh, “low-balling.”
Bob – I was more concerned with the draft picks. Give up one, but not two first rounders.
Admiral – I thought so.
Becky – As you know, that’s no easy task. The Wings are awesome.
