Obama: Some Gitmo Prisoners Coming Here

By Wyatt Earp | May 22, 2009

POLITICS-US-GUANTANAMO-OBAMAIt’s official: President HopeyChange has lost his frakkin’ mind.

First, he says they won’t be transferred to the American mainland. Now, he says they will be. I wish he would make up his damned mind. And when he does, maybe he can fill us in on exactly where these detainees are supposed to go?

Somehow, I doubt he will be letting any of them loose in Chicago or Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama said on Thursday some terrorism suspects held at Guantanamo would be sent to U.S. prisons despite strong congressional opposition, as he defended his plan to close the internationally condemned detention center.

In an extraordinary counterpoint to Obama’s speech, former Vice President Dick Cheney said the president’s reversals of Bush-era detainee policy amounted to “recklessness cloaked in righteousness and would make the American people less safe.”

Cheney is absolutely correct. The detainees are being held in a military base, in a country that is 90 miles away from the U.S. mainland. Are they less dangerous to us there or in, say, Kansas?

Obama made his case a day after the U.S. Senate, controlled by fellow Democrats, handed him a stinging setback by blocking funds to shutter the prison until he presents a detailed plan on what to do with the 240 terrorism suspects held there.

Seeking to calm fears that some detainees could eventually be released on U.S. soil, Obama insisted he would not authorize freeing anyone who would “endanger the American people”.

How the frak does who know which detainees would endanger the American people? It’s not like they are going to admit it right before their release, you moron!

Gitmo Guard: “If released, will you be a threat to American citizens?”
Detainee: “Oh, no sir! I love America! Now where’s the exit?”

But he said some terrorism suspects would be tried in U.S. courts and would be held in super-maximum-security U.S. prisons while others could be tried by military commissions or transferred to other countries. (H/TReuters)

Can someone please hand me the duct tape? These “other countries” have already weighed in on the matter. They don’t want the detainees inside their borders any more than the average American citizen wants them. But, you know, the country’s “moral standing” needs to be rebuilt, so what’s a few terrorists between friends?

This man is making a big mistake. A very big mistake.

It’s just a matter of time until he decides to purge the party of anyone who dares disagree with him.

From 7-11% of released detainees return to terrorist activities against America. I think the only way they should leave Cuba is in a coffin.

    Better to be safe.

I’m sure these fellas have reformed, and aren’t a threat to the American people. Besides, Guantanamo sounds like a depressing place. So how about we detain these guys in the basement of Sidwell Friends School? I’m sure the organic cafeteria food will be a welcome change from what they’re used to.

Jesus, this man needs a heaping tablespoon of Get-A-Clue.
