A Dinnertime Funny
By Wyatt Earp | April 10, 2009
Once in a while, the usual riotous Earp Family dinner turns into a quiet sit-down with a funny at the end. Last night was one of those rare occasions. Here’s what happened, and before you ask, this story is absolutely true.
I mentioned that the missus received seven stitches in her finger yesterday. Naturally, she was in no mood to cook and asked me if I anted Chinese for dinner. I said, “Sure. Do you think Zhang Ziyi knows our address?” Okay, I left the Zhang part out. Any hoo, she called the order in and picked it up while I was supervising Kyle and Erik’s bike riding adventures.
She returns, and we eat – the kids had pancakes because they don’t like Chinese food . . . yet. After dinner, Erik asks if “those cookies” are in the bag. “Those cookies” meaning fortune cookies. The missus said yes, and gave them one cookie each.
Kyle takes his and crumbles it up to get to the fortune. Here is a scan of what he found:
When the missus and I read it, we both burst out laughing. It’s the kind of funny you really have to see to believe. Of course, Kyle didn’t get the joke, but that’s okay. I’m sure most of you are giggling right now.
