It’s because it IS a serious issue that within a jokey, slightly risque, set of comments I put up the link to junkfood science. She has said a LOT of really good stuff about body image, peer pressure etc. etc. of which the page I linked to is only an example. It is a seriously good site and deserves to be better klnown. You may find parts of it that could help. I have literally cheered some of the things she has written.

True, but there are a few of us that are sane, sensible, clever, handsome … Ah, perhaps not. Scrub that last bit.

While I like the fact that someone is standing up and saying that women should feel better in their skin, I don’t think getting naked is the way to go.

I look at pictures of myself pre-children and thought I was huge then. Now, I am wishing I were that size. I am careful about my dieting around my children and how I talk about my weight because I don’t want them having to fight an eating disorder when they get older due to warped body images.

Anyway, this is Wyatt’s blog, not mine so I will bow out now. Why I did not see Alan’s comment until a few minutes ago, I don’t know. But I did have to reply to it.

Yes, GB is filled with idiots and that is not the way to deal with obesity. But obese or anorexic, body image is a serious issue for many, many women and young girls. I battled bulimia for over 10 years and am scared to death that I will become bulemic again while trying to shed the post-children weight. It is a frightening tight-rope walk some days.

Only one person is allowed to see me naked. And the room has to be dark first.

It is a serious point, though. There is so much BAD talk about overweight, obese, etc. that many girls and women feel bad about themselves. Sandy Szwarc is brilliant (came second in her class in the blog awards):
