Link Pimpage O’ The Week

By Wyatt Earp | January 8, 2009

What the Hell happened to me?

When I first started blogging, I was a nobody who barely received ten hits a day. I had a close circle of blog friends, and visited their sites every day. Three-plus years and 4,031 posts later, I am still a nobody, but a nobody that has realized that I am spending so much time trying to build up this blog that I do not visit my friends often enough.

And that is unacceptable.

I always told people that I would never think of myself as a “big shot,” and I would never let my ego get so huge that I would stop visiting my favorite haunts. I am finding out that that is exactly what has been happening. Oh sure, my blogroll is much larger than it was when I first started - and I have two more children than I did before - but you folks should expect more from me than a random “drive-by” visit once a month. I still try to respond to every single comment here - and that keeps me busy - but I don’t feel I am doing enough, and for that, I apologize.

So, while I will try to visit your blogs more often, I wanted to do something else. Today, I am unveiling a new feature here at Support Your Local Gunfighter, and it is entitled “Link Pimpage O’ The Week.” It will be a random look at a great post or interesting news from one of the blogs in my sidebar, or one of my frequent commenters.

Now, I am not arrogant enough to think that a link from me will generate traffic, but I wanted to point out some bloggers whose writing I enjoy. Thank you all for reading, and let’s meet a good Friend of SYLG.

earlHis Name Is Earl, and he is the baddest “library keeper” you will ever meet in your life.

Of course, most library keepers are not former paratroopers who ride motorcycles, are proficient in firearms, and practice martial arts in their spare time. Earl does all of this, and still manages to look like the guy you just want to sit down and enjoy a beer with. He is a loyal reader, regular commenter, and blog friend.

Oh, and yesterday was also his birthday. Please stop by and wish him all the best. Thank you.

Happy birthday, Earl!

Very familiar with Earl as he regularly visits Breda’s blog(the librarian).

    Good guy.

Well, I haven’t sat down and had a beer with him, but I have sat down and had steak with him.

Earl is a quiet, unassuming and friendly guy who you would never expect would be able to kill you using only his pinky.

I need to make sure I drop him a line if I make it back to Seattle soon.

Oh, and Wyatt? He told me he couldn’t believe how you had time to write as much as you do and still have a job and life. So, bravo. You impressed him.

Kaveman - I would suspect nothing less.

Ryan - I have a life? Why was I not informed???

Hi Earl (if you are reading)

Just dropping by from the U.K.
Hope you had a great birthday! I wouldn’t dream of asking how old because you might ask me and I don’t want to remember either!

    Alan

Perfect timing. I friend of mine is a librarian who blogs and she was recently asking about other librarian blogs.

    Thanks!

Alan B - I don’t know how old he is, and I didn’t ask - just in case he thinks it rude.

DL474 - Absolutely. He probably has terrific stories.

Kim - You’re welcome. She can also try The Breda Fallacy. She’s a librarian.

Sixty-One, but I am really knocked over by this post and comments than the old age creepin’ up on me. Lots of librarians out there, and some of them could have been paratroopers, its a gift.

Earl - It was my pleasure. Happy birthday!
