20 Years For Asking A Question?

By Wyatt Earp | October 21, 2008

Oh, maybe it has to do with the fact that this scumbag had the temerity to ask a question about The Religion of Peace? What a nerve!

KABUL, Afghanistan – An Afghan appeals court overturned a death sentence Tuesday for a journalism student accused of blasphemy for asking questions in class about women’s rights under Islam. But the judges still sentenced him to 20 years in prison.

The case against 24-year-old Parwez Kambakhsh, whose brother has angered Afghan warlords with his own writings, has come to symbolize Afghanistan’s slide toward an ultraconservative view on religious and individual freedoms.

“I don’t accept the court’s decision,” Kambakhsh told The Associated Press as he was leaving the courtroom. “It is an unfair decision.”

The case can be appealed to the Supreme Court, the highest court in Afghanistan. (H/TYahoo!)

Yeah, good luck with that. I am sure Afghanistan’s Supreme Court is not exactly as liberal as America’s. See ya in twenty years, Parwez!

Way it’s going, that will be illegal here before too long…

  2. JumpOut says:

I think the court’s decision was a damn sight more fair than the death sentence he was originally. You always have to find the silver lining.

  3. Wyatt Earp says:

Old NFO – Especially when Obama enacts the “Fairness Doctrine.”

JumpOut – Yeah, 20 years is better than losing your head.

  4. RT says:

Gee, I wonder if Amnesty International will find this a worthy cause. Probably not.

  5. steveegg says:

Old NFO already gave my answer.

  6. USA_Admiral says:

Joe the Plumber is next. You cannot make the Chosen one look bad by asking him to explain himself.

  7. Rick says:

    USA Admrial,
    You are so right.

  8. Doghouse says:

It never said if his question was answered.

  9. Wyatt Earp says:

RT – Oh yeah, they’re all over it. /snark

Steveegg – I’m sure an Obama administration will be fair and . . . Okay, I can’t finish that sentence with a straight face.

Admiral – And all he did was ask a question, too. And he’s getting torn apart for it.

    Doghouse – It was answered . . . with a 20-year sentence. Heh.

That’ll be Joe the Plumber if Obama wins,….
