Medical Waste Closes Jersey Beach
By Wyatt Earp | August 23, 2008

Looks like I picked the perfect time to come home from the Jersey shore.
Several beaches in Avalon were closed Saturday morning due to medical waste washing up on shore.
According to reports several needles were found on the beach, prompting officials to shut down the beaches from 9th to 28th street.
There is no word yet on when the beaches will reopen. No injuries have been reported. (H/T – CBS3)
We weren’t in Avalon, we were in Sea Isle City, which is the next town north. Either way, it’s still pretty scary, since my kids love the water and are still down there.

Geez, Wyatt, you are supposed to leave things the way you found it! Ha!
Deanna – Hey, don’t blame me: my stitches were already gone! Heh.
At least it’s not more dead bodies.
Randal – Yeah, apparently the mob isn’t what it used to be.
It was my welcome home party. Sorry, guys.
I don’t understand why they don’t melt needles down instead of just dumping them. Even if the metal wasn’t going to be reused, melting them down into a blob then chucking them seems more appropriate than dumping them as is. That would probably make too much sense though…
We went to Sea Isle the week of the fourth of July (we rented a place at 85th and Pleasure), that was my first time there- it was nice.
I thought they stopped dumping medical waste in the ocean a while ago…
Too late dude you already got contaminated. heh
RT – I knew you liked to party, but damn!
Snigs – Or they should at least dump them in a giant haystack. Heh.
BIG – I thought so, too. SIC is great, though. We have our annual Man’s Weekend there.
Captain – I was contaminated before going there.
