Quantas 747 Makes Emergency Landing

And why did the plane have to make an emergency landing, you ask?
Oh, it was just because there was a huge, gaping hole in the fuselage, that’s all!
While some stories – such as this one – are asking if the hole was the result of an explosion, the cause of the “malfunction” has yet to be determined.
A GAPING hole which ripped through the belly of a jumbo jet mid-flight may have been caused by an explosive device or a damaged fuselage, aviation experts say.
The packed Quantas Boeing 747 was forced to make an emergency landing in the Philippines today after the hole ripped through the plane’s belly.
Some passengers were so terrified they vomited when oxygen masks has to be used as the Melbourne-bound flight touched down.
Air expert David Learmount said: “It’s possible there was some kind of explosive device in the suitcases. There’s a hole where there shouldn’t be.” (H/T – The Sun)
With every passing story, I become less and less likely to ever fly again. Yeah, I’m a wuss, but I won’t be dropping out of the sky any time soon.

Granted there is a huge, hollow, metal tube with wings falling out of the sky, but don’t worry. As long as your seat backs and tray tables are in their upright position, you should be fine.

Glad I wasn’t the only one who thought of Rain Man when I saw what airline experienced the incident.
That looks like a pretty clean tear in the plane.

RT – I’m not convinced it was an “explosion,” but something definitely went completely wrong there.
