President Bush Heckled At July 4th Speech

By Wyatt Earp | July 5, 2008

To quote the jail scene from Trading Places, “Yeah, what’re ya, ig-nant!”

(CNN) — It’s The Fourth of July, but not everyone was in a festive mood when President Bush delivered a speech Thursday at Thomas Jefferson’s famous home, Monticello.

The President, who was talking part in Monticello’s annual naturalization ceremony, was interrupted several times by protesters.

“War criminal!” one protester repeatedly yelled as she was escorted out by Secret Service members.

“He has brought fascism to this shore,” another man yelled.

The president did not appear to acknowledge the protesters. (H/TCNN)

Nor should he have. There is absolutely no reason to address or acknowledge some liberal hippie toads who don’t have any respect. Look, Bush is not my favorite President by a damned sight, but if you don’t respect the man, respect to Office. Hold up your signs, and express your displeasure, but when you heckle and interrupt a speech, you just make yourself look like an idiot.

/Rant.

What happened to civility? There were people there proud to be taking the last step to citizenship. Why ruin their day? One of my co-workers became a citizen last year and he was over the moon happy and made sure it was announced.

That’s a big day and those toads ruined it.

RT – Civility died a slow and painful death a long time ago. It’s a shame these new citizens will mostly remember the crazy broad who interrupted the ceremony.

Yeah, it died about 16 years ago, completely.

I agree, Wyatt, completely. Husband and I watched the President’s speech and I couldn’t hear half of it because of the hecklers.

I give President Bush a lot of credit for not acknowledging those toads.

And my husband wondered why those almost new U.S. citizens didn’t turn around and tell them to shut the hell up. It was their day, after all.

I thought the liberals were all about loving immigrants? I guess when it comes to actual practice, the liberals are again all words and conflicting action.

People spend a lot of time, and money to come here. They also sacrifice a lot. The hardest thing for my wife was that she left her mom and sister behind, not to mention all of her friends. She hasn’t seen any of them in the flesh in years, and her mom and sister are really the only ones she gets to talk to on the phone on a regular basis. (I spend a fortune in phone cards). All to come to America, and hopefully be a citizen. However, some people can’t keep their selfishness in check, and have to make everything about their crazy views. My Russian friends really find the accusations about Bush being a tyrant or a dictator hilarious though. They all have grown up with stories about vanishing friends and relatives, and had grandparents who had their personal belongings confiscated in the name of the community. Yeah, Bush really is a Hitler. How many people have died to programs so far?

“How many people have died to programs so far?”

    About 4,112. ;-)

The sad thing is the ceremony had nothing to do with Bush, it was supposed to be all about the 76 folks who did the right thing, and jumped through all the hoops to become citizens.

My inner asshole is hoping that someone heckles that person’s kid during an important moment in there life, and destroys the event for them.

Of all the arrogant, self-centered, bullshit things to do…

Crazy Politico, your inner asshole and mine are saying the same thing. ;)

Sometimes I think I am the only human ever to have Googled “fascism”.

Of those 4,112, how many were to secret police, mass starvation, or as science experiments? How many were turned into lamp shades, had their hair made into rope, or were used as sex toys for storm troopers? How many were forced to move to an icy cold climate, wearing clothing that was better suited for rags, and made to dig in the frozen ground with bare hands, because the local commissar forgot to feel out the proper paper work for shovels? How many were dragged away in the middle of the night, for the crime of hoarding money, or listening to an illegal radio station? This is what it takes to be a fascist, not screwing up intelligence, and using bad strategy in a war, or any of the other things Bush has done.

I want to clarify one thing, I respect and am saddened by the loss of the more then 4,000 in Iraq. I just refuse to believe that taking casualties in war, rather that war is justified or was a mistake, is incomparable to making our leaders fascist. If that is the case, then many of America’s greatest leaders were fascist, and the Nazis were something far worse then fascist.

Admiral – Actually, I think Clinton called a cab for Lewinsky after her fouled her. Heh.

GroovyVic – I don’t know why, either. If they were heckling something a relative of mine was attending, I would have freaked out.

Marvin – Yeah, I would think compared to Stalin, Khrushchev, and Brezhnev, Bush looks like Mother Theresa to them.

Randal – Luckily, Obama will end the war and bring the troops home immediately. Oh wait, he flip-flopped on that issue, too.

    C.P. – Agreed. I’m sure they wouldn’t appreciate it.

Snigs – I guess they didn’t have anything better to do. Gotta love Bush Derangement Syndrome.

Dorkelina – Since when did facts or definitions get in the way of an easy liberal mantra?

Marvin – By that slanted thinking, FDR, Lincoln, Kennedy, and Washington were fascists.

They had just better be glad they are in the US, in a number of countries they would have been imprisoned or shot for protesting… We do have free speech, sometimes practiced at the most inopportune times by the LWL and their ilk, because they know they can get away with it and get on TV… sigh…

Let me just say one thing: at Cold Harbor, 7000 men died in 20 minutes.

Seven. Thousand. Men. In just twenty minutes.

So Lincoln is a fascist too?

War is not pretty, heroic, or even right in some cases. No one really wants it, but it happens and we need to get over our MTV five minute attention spans and deal.

Just wanted to vent a bit.

  17. GroovyVic Says:
    July 5th, 2008 at 5:43 pm

Not that I am a big fan of Lincoln, because I’m not.

And I wanted to drop that bit of trivia on you.
