Michael Jackson, Dead At 50

By Wyatt Earp | June 25, 2009

Michael Jackson

I am so trying not to snark about this.

It does appear that the old adage about celebrities dying in threes came true this week. First Ed McMahon, then Farrah Fawcett, and now Michael Jackson.

Michael Jackson, the show-stopping singer whose best-selling albums — including “Off the Wall,” “Thriller” and “Bad” — and electrifying stage presence made him one of the most popular artists of all time, died Thursday, CNN has confirmed.

He was 50.

The missus called me upstairs a few minutes ago and said, “Wyatt, Michael Jackson died!” She was watching E! when I came up, Ryan Seacrest actually said, “He touched so many people.”

I had to stifle a giggle. It’s okay, though: I already know I am going to Hell.

He collapsed at his residence in the Holmby Hills section of Los Angeles, California, about noon Pacific time, suffering cardiac arrest, according to brother Randy Jackson. He died at UCLA Medical Center. (H/TCNN)

I’m sure an autopsy will be performed, and the official cause of death will be released eventually. Despite some of his more despicable actions, Michael Jackson was a truly talented performer.

There might be some truth to the rumors about his pill problems.

While I didn’t understand him as an adult and didn’t care for his music post-Off the Wall, he was very talented.

I loved the Jackson 5 when I was little.

Jeff Goldbloom died in a sixty foot fall in New Zealand today. That’s three today.

Goldblum’s death is a ghoulish hoax:

Jackson had MANY problems… His music was good (for a time), and that is probably the ONLY thing that kept him out of prison…

Jackson’s post “Thriller” career wasn’t much to write home about. But up to and including “Thriller”, he had few peers as a performer. And the backing bands were right tight and together.
Can’t say he’ll be all that missed because for the last 20 years, he hasn’t done nothin’, as Stevie Wonder would have said. Hell, even Mick Jagger and the perpetually strung out Keith Richards have cut a few good tunes into their 50s.

Rumor has it that little boys’ pants will be flown at half-mast tomorrow in his memory…

    Yeah, I went there.

I watched a you tube video of him performing “I Want You Back” as a kid in Jackson 5 last night. He was amazing.

I just keep wondering how maladjusted those 3 kids must be after living in a freak show their whole lives. Seeing all the pics with them with faces covered and then there is “blanket”. Geez, who wants to go through life being known as part of a layette?

I am an old metalhead, so jackson’s music sucked. as far as I am concerned. Unless Al Yankovic was making fun of it.
But suddenly, it’s the end of the world. The self-proclaimed “king of pop” is gone.
One would do better to remember Ed McMahon, Marine, an individual with true character and substance.
No tears for anyone but Ed in the current triple header of “stars” who have gone on to whatever reward they held to themselves.

Saw on CNN today a report that said MJ’s autopsy will reveal abuse that makes Anna Nicole look tame.

Oh, and with his death, Farrah is officially swept under the rug, just like Groucho Marx was when he died the same day as Elvis.
