Black Power Is Alive And Well In Philly

Yes, I realize that writing that makes me a sure candidate for the Captain Obvious Award, but this story is a perfect example of their uselessness. It proudly proclaims “The Rise of Black Leadership in Philly,” and how we are a better city for it.

You really have to read this piece of claptrap: I’ll snark afterward. (And I guarantee sometime in the next few days, some troll commenter will call me a racist for writing this post in the first place.)

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, Police Chief Charles Ramsey, Superintendent Arlene Ackerman and most-likely-gonna-be District Attorney Seth Williams are changing the face of leadership in a city not always known as racially progressive.

I love the Seth Williams comment because it’s true. Republicans cannot get elected in this town because its voters refuse to vote for them. Forget racial diversity: I would like to see political diversity for once.

By the fall, African-Americans will hold what are likely the four most important positions in the City of Brotherly Love. More than 45 years after race riots rocked Philly, some could argue that the city is making progress toward improved race relations, according to the Metro.

Yeah, the Metro. A free “newspaper” that isn’t worth lining a bird cage. There are quite a few racist reporters and columnists there, and all of them hate the po-po.

Some people think that Philly has come a long way and skin color no longer matters.

“I think this city in many areas, especially elected office, has gotten beyond race and I’m proud to say I’m a Philadelphian because of that,” Councilman Frank Rizzo told the Metro.

Awesome! I feel so happy about this HopeyChangitude! It warms my heart to know that the next time a police officer is accused of excessive force, these idiots - and the media that gives them a free pass - won’t cry “racism.” Oh, what a time to be alive!

Oh, and right before that quote, the good people at the Metro slammed Rizzo’s father Frank as a racist. Although they had no problem quoting the head of the local NAACP Chapter, who is possibly the biggest racist this side of Robert Byrd. Nice.

The moral of the story — leadership in Philly has finally become colorblind. (LINK)

Yeah, and what do we have to show for it? We have an African-American mayor who is presiding over a $2 million deficit. He is closing fire stations and libraries, yet keeping his high-priced staff.

We have an African-American police commissioner who fires police officers for alleged brutality - without an investigation, a hearing, a trial, or anything else resembling Due Process.

We have an African-American former mayor - and his deadbeat brother - who were poster boys for political corruption. Yet, the feds only seem interested in prosecuting politicians of a different hue. Interesting. At least the article ended with a funny - although I don’t think it was intentional.

    My guess would be: it will be about NOTHING save MONEY, and insufficient amounts of it at that!

    Because, as we all know, MONEY solves incompetence, racism, laziness, cowardice, arrogance, eh?

    Funny how they TOTALLY ignored the Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers. Not to mention that four out of five top positions in the PFD are filled by blacks as well.

    I can’t wait until diversity swings back in my direction again.

    On April 13, at an NAACP training convention in Philadelphia, Mayor John Street shouted, “The brothers and sisters are running the city. Oh, yes. The brothers and sisters are running this city. Running it! Don’t let nobody fool you, we are in charge of the City of Brotherly Love . . .”

    Doesn’t sound colorblind to me, idiotic yes, colorblind no.

    Philadelphia is a vast undulating bowl of HIV infected semen that is being consumed by the maggots that reside therein.

    Since the “war on terror is lost” (Harry Reid D. Nevada) can we now surrender Philly and all of NJ to the terrorist and then attack it immediately?
    As an alternative I would accept a giant saw cut along the boarders of NJ and Philadelphia County and then a massive effort to shove the whole lot into the ocean.
    OK who is with me?

    On Memorial Day, it would be a good time for all the people of the USA to read President Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address:

    Not by or for ANY racial, social, or anyother type of grouping - minority or majority.

    Governement is service. Not an opportunity to get for yourself, your race, your Church, your social class or anything that is specifically “yours”.

    America has not always lived up to that ideal.
    America is not living up to that ideal today.
    To be great, America has to live up to that ideal in future.

    Just an idea from a friend across the pond …

    God, if we had politicians in this town who were judged by the content of their character, we’d finally be getting somewhere.
