Cruise: I Grew Up Wanting To Kill Hitler

By Wyatt Earp | January 18, 2009

I don’t want to call Tom a liar, but I don’t know another way to finish this sentence.

SEOUL – Tom Cruise, who fails to assassinate Adolf Hitler in his new movie “Valkyrie,” said he grew up really wanting to kill the Nazi leader.

Unfortunately for Tom, he was born in 1962 - a good 17 years after Hitler committed suicide.

In the World War Two thriller based on a true story of the unsuccessful attempt by German soldiers to kill Hitler, Cruise plays Colonel Claus Von Stauffenberg who plants a briefcase bomb under a table at Hitler’s military headquarters.

A heavy wooden table saves Hitler and Stauffenberg is executed with his co-conspirators.

“I always wanted to kill Hitler, I hated him,” the Hollywood star of such major blockbusters as “Top Gun” and “Mission Impossible,” told the press during a visit to Seoul to promote his latest film.

“As a child studying history and looking at documents, I wondered, why didn’t someone stand up and try to stop it? When I read the script, it was entertaining and informative to know what the challenges were and what it was like to be in the environment.” (H/T - )

I don’t want to sound like a sarcastic bastard - well, more so - but is it just me, or does this story seem completely fabricated to coincide with his newest film’s plot?

Personally, I think he’s talking out of his arse to drum up publicity. Tool.

Note: Sorry for all of the humdrum post topics, but it’s next to impossible to find an article that isn’t about the inauguration or the Philadelphia Freakin’ Eagles.

Well Wyatt, it’s halftime in AZ. and you don’t have to worry about Tom Cruise killing Andy or Donovan—they’re doing it themselves–with the help of former Pitt receiver Larry Fitzgerald. Maybe they’ll axe those bums after all–you can only hope.

Sure, everybody would like to kill Hitler, but no one seems willing to use their time machines to do it.

cbullitt - I feel badly for the Eagles. For Donovan and Reid? Not so much.

And Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald are class acts. Good for them.

Tom Cruise is saying anything these days that he thinks would make the public see him in a more favorable light. He has pretty much ruined himself in the last few years with his whacko personality.
