A Bittersweet Day For Israel

After being kidnapped and held for five years, Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit was released today. But Israel paid a steep price to get him out of the hands of Hamas.
Cheering crowds greeted Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit as he arrived in his hometown of Mitzpe Hila after five years in captivity in Gaza. Sgt Shalit, 25, was seized in 2006 by Hamas militants who tunneled into Israel.
He was freed after Israel and the Islamist movement Hamas agreed a deal under which more than 1,000 Palestinians would also be released.
Israel freed 477 Palestinians on Tuesday, including people convicted of murder and of planning suicide attacks. Another 550 jailed Palestinians are to be freed next month under the deal.
In my opinion, Netanyahu should break the deal and keep the other 550 terrorists. Frak Hamas and frak the “international community.” What are they gonna do; condemn Israel? Israel is condemned every day for a lot less. And those animals at Hamas deserve no consideration. At all.

I dislike the idea of negotiating with Hamas, but am glad to see this soldier going home.

It is my hope this is a major ruse by Israel to get the 1500+ criminals all in one place of their land. Then in 2 days, they might want to bomb the living crap out of them…

Israel just gave Hamas a combat battalion for one man, don’t know if I would have done that but I understand.

There’s an urban legend that may be true because the Russians are ruthless. They say that when Hezbollah kidnapped a Soviet in Beirut back in the 80′s the Reds kidnapped some people themselves and started mailing the pieces back. All of a sudden, being Russian was the safest thing to be in Lebanon. I don’t think the Israelis should do that but if they were as bad as the world says they are that’s what they could do.

Jon – Dennis Prager said it was (partially) a political move by Bibi. The economy is bad over there, too, and the Israelis needed some good news.
