What better way to celebrate than to post a photo of BSG’s Number 6?
Six years ago today, I made the fateful decision to click that “Create A Blog” button. A friend of mine told me about blogging – I didn’t have a clue as to what it was – and I figured it would be a good way to keep in writing shape. I wrote for my high school and college newspapers, and while I was never really gifted, writing was something I enjoyed. I never expected to transform into the powerful blog overlord that I have become, but I am relishing the fact that I can buy and sell every single one of you.
Sometimes, people ask me, “Wyatt, how do you come up with post ideas?” It’s a simple answer, actually. I’m riddled with OCD, so I do the same thing before every post. I start by rating my female readers in order of attractiveness, and whether or not I would have a chance with them if I were single. Sadly, the answer is always no. Then, I take a sip of Turkey Hill Diet Iced Tea, the official iced tea of SYLG, and shoot off an e-mail to Code Monkey or Mrs. Crankipants entitled, “I need post material!” Then I sit back and wait for the magic to happen.
After posting a snippet from the story and inserting a sentence or two of snark, I press “Publish.” The entire procedure takes about 30 seconds, but the rubes – that’s you – think I put a lot of effort into it. Suckers. I’ve been doing that for six years.
In that time, this blog has seen 7,255 posts, 55,000+ comments, and 1.7 million visits. It still blows my mind. I mean, really, don’t you people have lives? Get up off the couch, let your ass groove smooth itself out, and take a walk for cripes’ sake! This blog will still be here when you get back, and with you guys gone, I can finally feel safe enough to blog without pants.
In all seriousness, I want to thank you for reading, for commenting, and for trusting me to entertain you lo these many years.
