July 7, 1900 – Warren Earp Murdered In Arizona

The youngest Earp brother, however, did not share in the fame of his older brothers. Warren Earp was probably in Tombstone on the day of the famous gunfight, but for reasons that remain unclear, Warren did not join in the gunfight (the eldest Earp brother, James, did not participate either). Warren, however, was involved in the bloody series of revenge killings that followed the shoot-out.

After he parted ways with Wyatt in Colorado, the record of Warren’s life becomes obscure. He apparently traveled around the West for several years before finally returning to Arizona. On this day in 1900, Warren reportedly had too much to drink at the Headquarters Saloon in Willcox, Arizona. He began to abuse some of the customers, and a man named John Boyett killed him in a gunfight. Later, Boyett was tried for murder and found innocent on the grounds that he had acted in self-defense.

Just so you know, there was no mention of the London terror bombings on the July 7 This Day in History page at History.com. Maybe they don’t want to offend the “Religion of Peace.”

I saw one mention of the terror bombings on a news website this morning. Other than that, nada, anywhere. Sad.

People will never learn. It is more important that we know what Lindsay Lohan got sentenced to 90 days in jail and had F-U written on her middle fingernail. Yeah, because the world hinges on her ability to get sober. (It would be nice for her and her loved ones if she did.)

RT – Saw that story. Woman deserves to be shunned by Hollywood.

I don’t put too much stock in History.com. I’ve found some glaring errors there in the past. I got caught wrong by a commenter in one of my crime history posts a few years back, thanks to that site. Now I verify every bit of information there through other sources before I use it.

There was so little difference between the good and the bad back then. Wyatt would have been hanged in Missouri and wound up the Marshal in Dodge City. Lots of things in the history were written by the Dime Novel guys and the winners of the gun fights.

    Fenway – Another win!

Skip – I think he was a law enforcement officer in Southern California, but not sure where.

Danny – Yeah, I thought it was particularly peculiar.

John D – It’s a shame when they get lazy, but that’s not the first time I heard a complaint.

MUD – It’s great that he just fled Arizona instead of facing possible murder charges. No one wanted to pursue him. Go figure.

It is funny how the world has bowed to the terrorists. Now we are so afraid to do anything. And then there is the NASA mess ..:P
