The Air Force Academy Goes Pagan
By Wyatt Earp | February 3, 2010
The Air Force Academy is gallantly attacking the issue of religious tolerance on their campus grounds. Always ready to defend freedom, the Academy staff has facilities for Christians, Jews, Muslims, and Buddhists.
You can now add Pagans and Wiccans to that list. .
DENVER – The Air Force Academy has set aside an outdoor worship area for Pagans, Wiccans, Druids and other Earth-centered believers, school officials said Monday.
A double circle of stones atop a hill on the campus near Colorado Springs has been designated for the group, which previously met indoors.
“Being with nature and connecting with it is kind of the whole point,” said Tech. Sgt. Brandon Longcrier, who sponsors the group and describes himself as a Pagan. “It will dramatically improve that atmosphere, the mindset and the actual connection.”
The stones were moved to the hilltop last year because erosion threatened to make them unstable in their previous location near the visitors center. Crews arranged them in two concentric circles because they thought it would be a pleasant place for cadets to relax, Longcrier said.
I don’t want to be branded as a hater, but do we really want people who worship trees and rocks in charge of our national defense?
“Gee Colonel, I would love to strafe that valley, but there may be some collateral damage. I cannot in good conscience fire upon an elm tree.”

Oh yeah, I much prefer people who believe they’ve been saved by a zombie from heaven to run stuff.
Oh, is my snark showing? ^_^
Since they all volunteer to defend this country, I consider this a pretty cheap shot.

Any air strike sufficiently advanced is indistinguishable from witchcraft.
Want to hear something really scary? It was the ratings from 10th AB Wing who set this henge up, not the officer trainees. Cadets just climb Eagle’s Peak.
My main beef with Reform Druidism is that it’s not all that old. But it is older than Baha’i or the Mormons, not to put too fine a point on it.

What about the people that worship the ass being led by a Mexican farmer and have statues on their lawns ? Let’s build a gigant ASS for the Academy and get rid of the Mexican farmer to comply with the ACLU

Way too touchy feely for my liking. Actually, it creeps me out.

Paganism, Christianity, Buddhism, Judiaism – What’s the difference? They’re all fairytales.
All of them have one thing in common – they were all started by archaic people living in an archaic time period – the same people who thought light from stars came from vents on burning chariot wheels…
Whatever makes these cadets tick is fine by me, so long as they do what our country asks of them.

Sally Anne – Really? For someone who has known me and read this blog for years, I figured you were used to my unique brand of snarky sarcasm. I guess I was wrong.
Comatus – One of my former kids from the lacrosse team is there now. I have to send him an e-mail, post haste.
Crusty – It’s ASSimilation at its best. Heh.
MeToo – Just not the type of thing you expect to see at a service academy. Berkeley? Sure.
Andrew – I draw the line at Scientology, though. Not archaic enough.

Much of what is in the Wiccan beliefs and in Paganism is actually Satanic. Plain and simple. I’ve lived both lives. I know this to be true.

With all this inclusiveness and political correctnes in our military this country will soon be on par with Greece. This is pure unadulterated bullshit.

RT – That explains why your school kids think you’re the devil. Tee hee hee!
Minuteman26 – I figured the military academies would be less p.c.
Smite – They need you out there.

Well, as one of those aforementioned Nature worshipers, I say “cool!”
RT: Satanic? How can it be worshiping something I don’t believe in? Or is this the whole “it isn’t in the bible, therefore it’s Satanic” thing?
Thanks for posting this, Wyatt: I’ll have to say something about it at my place!
