“It Has Begun”

By Wyatt Earp | May 22, 2009

Those were the words that greeted me on Tuesday as I was getting ready for work. Here’s the story:

It was about 1:30 in the afternoon, and I was getting ready for work. The night shift starts at 3pm. I was in the bathroom, um, “sitting on the throne” and enjoying a rare moment of peace. Or so I thought.

Erik, who is 5, burst open the door, and said, “Mom said to tell you ‘It has begun.’”

After I told Erik to get the frak out of the bathroom - I did so nicely - I finished my business, washed my hands, and went downstairs. I approached the missus and asked, “What does ‘It has begun’ mean?”

She replied by giving me the camera and showing me this video. I pressed the Play button and saw this:

That would be Julia, my five-month old daughter, rolling over for the first time. The missus said “It has begun,” because our last bastion of peace and stability was now on the move - and our lives would never be the same again. Dang.

And I don’t know who’s singing in the background. It’s either Erik or Kevin.

    But she is SO CUTE!!!

Look, if it makes you feel better, my daughter was crawling at four months. Up until then, I kid you not, she was “commando crawling” (pulling herself around with her elbows) and rolling and scooting around the house. And getting herself stuck under the coffee table. And then she walked at eight months.

And this is the child who has a tumor on her backbone!

Yeah, I only have two kids, but my peace and sanity dried up when my daughter arrived in the world.

She is so cute! And so is which ever child is singing. I love the little voice.

May God be with you. You’ll definitely need Him. Good luck.

My 7 month old is now rolling as well. Can’t leave her alone on the couch anymore even for a sec. My 2 year old was walking at 10 mos and running about a week later. And so it goes!
