Delta Airliner Escorted By Israeli Fighters

Of course, this probably wouldn’t have been necessary if the pilot didn’t accidentally activate the hijack alert!
JERUSALEM — Israeli fighter jets were scrambled to escort a Delta Air Lines plane flying from New York to Tel Aviv after the pilot activated a hijacking alert by mistake.
Transportation ministry official, Dani Shenar, told Israeli media Saturday that nobody was hurt in the incident.
He said two jets hovered briefly over the plane carrying over 100 people and escorted it safely to Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion airport.
A technical malfunction had prevented the pilot from communicating with the airport’s control tower. (H/T - FOXNews)
Delta Air Lines: We love to fly scramble fighters. And it shows.

That is soooo not something I’d want to see outside of my window. YIKES!

No RT, you DO want to see them… And he didn’t necessarily squawk Hijack, as there are Loss Comms codes that can get a launch also. Matter of fact, I’d bet Israel would launch on either/both codes…

Better safe than sorry, I guess. I think if I saw fighters out the window when I was on a flight, I’d get my camera out.

Israel gets it! They can’t afford to loose even once.
