Last Man Standing
By Wyatt Earp | February 10, 2012
Well, it’s been a helluva couple of days. It started on Wednesday night, when Kevin caught a stomach bug that’s been going around. He projectile-vomited a few times overnight, and neither the missus or I got much sleep. Thursday morning and afternoon were okay, and he seemed to be on the road to recovery.
Then last night hit. Right after partaking of Erik’s birthday cake, Erik said his stomach hurt. We chalked it up to stress, since he stresses about everything (like father, like son). The stress turned into projectile vomit, and he spent last night throwing up. Shortly after Erik started, Kyle got into the act. Projectile vomit, fever, etc. All night long.
Not to be undone, Julia followed suit, vomiting once during the night and once on me when I woke her this morning. I took off from work today because the missus caught the bug, too. She was the only one who made it to the bathroom when it hit.
So, I spent the night shampooing carpets, washing off kids, and doing load after load of laundry. As the title says, I am the last man standing here. Erik and Julia threw up on me today, but otherwise it looks like the bug is moving on. Sadly, we had to reschedule Erik’s birthday party at the SportsZone, because there’s no way he can run and play for the next few days.

If it’s accompanied by the runs and/or ‘rotten’ burps (tastes and smells like rotting meat and eggs), expect it to go in 2-3 day cycles for about a week and a half to two weeks.
Just getting over that myself. Also, buckets are your friends.
Good Luck Buddy………………..
Sorry to hear that, and hope YOU don’t come down with what ever is going around…
Pepto Bismal is your friend, trust me on that.
Sorry about all the illness with your family. I sure can commiserate as a dad-o-4. Mine are all teenagers+ but revert to being kids when they’re sick.
Hope everyone recovers quickly and all get better. Hmmm..now could also be the time to invite people you can’t stand to stop over for curry bean dip and molasses soda.
Ranba – Swell.
LDIV – It’s snowing a little today. Maybe the cold air will kill some of the germs.
Old NFO – So far, I’ve been immune, but time will tell.
PhillipC – It works great for me, but the missus can’t stomach it at all. No pun intended.
Piper – Eh, so do I. Or so I’m told.
Jon – I wanted to have a Re-Elect Obama party today . . .
Sorry to hear about your families health problems Wyatt. I can just hope that things improve at your house SOON. Cause I’m afeared you’ll come down with WHATEVER THE HELL IT IS, too.

Especially if you have to go out to shovel snow or something like that.
Hey, here’s an idea: call the President of your union and ask him over for a “chat” -make sure he gets to play with each of your kids, in turn.
Seriously Wyatt, I sure do hope your families health improves DRAMATICALLY very shortly.
The sounds like Rotavirus,
Rotavirus is not your friend,
Had our oldest complain of stomachache before going to bed, two in the am we are awaken to wailing from the hall bathroom, trooper that she was had made it to the porcelain bus to throw-up……
but was half asleep and did not lift the lid…………
+1 what Real West said,
but have the kids lick all the doughnuts first……
This is terrible!! Lysol everything. If it don’t move spray it, if it moves spray it twice. My 24 year old came home here from Fishtown last night, and he is sick as a dog. Needed his mommy. Now I am afraid the other 2, her and I will get something. Keep that crap in the city!!
Hope your wife and kids recover quick!
The joy of a big family will leave you many fond, funny and some no so funny but still a bit fond memories! Hope you all get well soon Wyatt!
A few years ago after a huge post-Xmas family party, about 20 of us got a similar stomach bug. It was funny. About three days after the party, we start to recover and when we re-connect by phone with the other attendees, we are all “You were sick too for the last 3 days?!”.
Real – Thanks. It’s 1pm and we’re vomit-free today.
Thomas F – Ouch. If it’s that, I hope it Rota-tes out of here.
Danny – Way ahead of you. Lysol and I are best friends this week.
AJ – Not sure if it was a byproduct of the virus, but Kyle was caught sleepwalking twice last night and mumbling, “The stars are going to kill me.”
Kids had a slight dose of it a week or so ago. We kind of figured it was going around since they said some of the kids in school had been throwing up here and there. You just have to wait until it “runs” its course and play WOT in the mean time.
Lately it is like colds, flu, all the usual winter crap have a 1-2 punch. Hits you hard early on, then it seems to get better, then another big hit before it goes away.

He probably saw footage of Sean Penn hanging out with Chavez before he went to bed.
That damned bug is at my house also
You can tell if it is rota by the smell, their vomit smells awful and I don’t mean vomit badl, I mean makes you blanch from 6 feet away horrid, and the vomit also turns milk chocolate brown…… no matter what they had to eat prior to throwing up……
We had it go thru the house with all four last year……. oh happy days…..
