California: What’s The Point?
By Wyatt Earp | February 10, 2012
See this guy on the left? In Los Angeles County he would be considered a criminal and face fines of up to $1,000.
The new ordinance elevated fines for throwing a football or Frisbee on the beaches. Another liberal overreach.
The Board of Supervisors this week agreed to raise fines to up to $1,000 for anyone who throws a football or a Frisbee on any beach in Los Angeles County. The updated rules now prohibit “any person to cast, toss, throw, kick or roll” any object other than a beach ball or volleyball “upon or over any beach” between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
Exceptions allow for ball-throwing in predesignated areas, when a person obtains a permit, or playing water polo “in or over the Pacific Ocean”.
I honestly don’t know why anyone voluntarily stays in that state. Seriously.

The people who stay in that state, I am convinced, stay there for the weather. They aren’t strong enough, adult enough, mature enough, fill-in-the-blank enough to handle weather that actually changes, and threatens them with things like snow, cold air, tornadoes, and the like.
At least, that’s what I tell my friends who live in CA. They both get offended, but never really argue with the point. And one is often updating his Facebook status with things like ‘Another perfect day in California! 72 and sunny. God is good!’
And I often comment ‘Would He not be good if you lived where it snowed, like when you used to live in Pittsburgh?’
I’m starting to realize I’m becoming a bit of a jerk in my age.
There was also a part of the law that didn’t allow holes
more than 18 inches deep in the sand. I guess beach cows can step in them and break their legs then a vet has to put them down. My new aim in life will be to go to a beach in Kalifornia and dig hundreds of 17 -3/4 inch holes and chuckle when the guys with rulers come out of the woodwork.
Could we still throw willing dwarves over the surface of the beach?
The solution is simple. Get a handful of kalifornians to call the police 10 times every day and file a report that someone is throwing a frisbee on the beach.
Then call back every 15 minutes and ask if they have responded to this criminal activity.
They will fight this, create a voter referendum, which the people will win by a majority vote, then be over ruled by 3 liberal judges who know better. LOL!!
Nanny States continue to not get it. They were absent the day they were taught about freedom in school!
This is only necessary because people have absolutely no consideration for others and will continue to bombard others with balls, frisbees, and sand on a crowded beach.
That being said, it does seem over the top.
Here on the news they said $100 for first offense, and up to $1000.
I miss California. Well, I miss Disneyland. Ok, I miss Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. ^_^
I have to say though, the stupidity pouring out of the TN state legislature makes me so sick that I am reconsidering the “retire in TN” plan. I mean, in a state where we have to hide out in closets for so many tornado warnings, they seem to be awfully harsh on anyone who ever comes OUT of one. O_O
I made the mistake of loving electronics. If that is your industry, then Silicon Valley is the land of milk and honey. Having said that, I am nauseated day in and day out by the pure unadulterated stupidity that permeates this culture. How can someone go to all the trouble of getting the education, paying off the loan, work their way up the corporate ladder and then not understand the simplest of economics? In other words, how can a wealthy person flop over to the dark side (left/democrat/communist)? It boggles my mind. Some of you are correct, weather is a huge issue when I consider moving out of state. That and that I will never find decent paying job elsewhere. I hate it here. I love it here. I can’t design a circuit to fix that.
I could see Rahm Emmanuel passing an insane law like this as well. Calling it “You never let a serious crisis go to waste.”
Wow, those pols in Los Angeles County are really focusing on the important issues.
It all comes down to this, is there anything CA wont tax or ban. Afterall, how desperate is CA for cash that it needs stupid laws like this to support their moronically high spending levels.
Wyatt:
More proof that most all of California is nothing that a GOOD 7.3 on the RICHTER scale couldn’t cure, eh?
Stay safe out there.
Boyd – If that’s the case – and I’m not saying it is – they should move to AZ. Nice conservative state with much less government intervention. At least compared to CA.
And me? I need the seasons. Especially winter.
Jon – They’re called “little people.” Racist.
Kaveman – Good point. It would put a dent in enforcement.
Danny – I am still pissed about the Prop 8 decision. No judge anywhere should be allow to overturn a legal election. And Dems cry about voter disenfranchisement.
Rodney – But it’s a great way to meet babes. Throw the ball near them and make a diving catch!
Sally Anne – Very few (if any) tornadoes here, but you have to go right for the center of PA. Pittsburgh and Philly are liberal suck holes.
Richard – I get that point. Philly blows at times, but it’s my home. I’ve lived my entire life here. Cops can now move outside the city limits, but why would I – especially after putting a really expensive addition on my home?
Ferrell – Chicago, LA, New York, Philly. Your Four Horsemen of Stupidity.
John D – Never mind the entire state is in the red, THIS is what will get them back on their feet!
Bob G. – Only if it takes certain parts of San Francisco and L.A. The rest of the state isn’t bad, and they have a great NASCAR road course in Sonoma.
I thought the whole point of throwing stuff around on the beach was to watch the girls in bikinis…or rather, all the bouncing when they run.
Prudes!
It is only fair. Do you know how hard it is to throw a frisbee or football with a limp wrist? Now they can use their wrists for playing with their balls
“I honestly don’t know why anyone voluntarily stays in that state”
Christina Hendricks, Adriana Lima and I were having that very same discussion last week. We decided that it keeps the riff-raff out.
If you notice in that 37 page law, there are no banning of soccer balls. Gotta keep the homies happy doncha know.
To RedeemedBoyd:
To whom it may concern:
I sure do wish I had some where else to go and make the same life there as I have here. However, I can not. My two children are here with in 1 hour of me. Along with the grandchildren. I have no steady job to support myself. My house is all paid off all the cars are paid off. However, one is 39 years old, one is 14 years old which my son uses to drive to work, the other car is 11 years old witch I use Though there still is the housing tax and car tags to pay for and all the insurance to cover all of those things. I live along the ragged lower edge of prosperity. I owe no one any major amount of money at all (except for April 15th of ever year). l have only about 1,000 worth of credit card debt to pay off, from mostly keeping the cars running and maintaining my 100 year old house, that debt will go away with in three months. IF, nothing breaks down that I can not fix myself or get fixed with out paying through the nose to get done. So where am I going to go to make things better for me? Any place else I would have to buy or rent a home or apartment, have to get hired again if that would be possible and have to buy new appliances, furniture and such to live in the new place. That in it self would set me back about 25,000 dollars. Sure can not afford that in my future. So here I am stuck in mexafornia, watching it crumbing around me and not being able to do a thing to stop it or even slow it down. Screwed in the ass with out the Vaseline AGAIN by the various governments that have taken over my life and this state.
So here I stay. There has to be some other people in this state with about the same environment as I have. I just can not leave for the greener pastures. Gumment has gotten in the way and it will not move out of my way. Gumment is here to stay and it does not look like a pretty future for any of us left behind.
And we also get snow, not all the time and it only lasts for a few hours, very cold weather 22*F, very hot weather up to 115* during the summer.
We do get, tornadoes ere not f-5 five types, we get floods, black ice on our roads, Tulle Fog, hale not large however we do get it. Big ass thunder storms and lots of lighting to put out the electricity for up to 8 ours at at time.
It was pretty nice when it was 70 degrees this week and I don’t even live in Southern Cal. I have considered moving several times and advise all my children to get out as fast as they can. The nut-bars just keep coming up with more and more crazy stuff.
I have at least 10 more years before I can bail out of this hellhole and move to somewhere in the US (we dont hit our higher retirement percentages with LASD until we reach 55 years of age, no matter how many years you have on…I will have 34 years on at that point)
Will one of you sponser me for citizenship?
