The Mistake By The Steak

By Wyatt Earp | January 5, 2012

You know, I cut Flyers fans a lot of slack because, by comparison, they are less ignorant than the other Philly fans. Then they prove me wrong.

Apparently, some idiot Flyers and Rangers fans wanted a cheesesteak, “wit.” In this case, they wanted it “wit” a couple of knocked out teeth.

One man had to be hospitalized after a clash between hockey fans following the Winter Classic Game on Monday night.

Things quickly got physical when one Flyers fan took a swing at a Rangers fan. After several punches, the Rangers fan is overcome and falls to the ground. The victim was then punched by a second man while a third tried to intervene, both wearing Flyers jerseys.

A second man in a Rangers jersey then joined the fight, but he too was quickly attacked, being punched and knocked to the ground. The first Rangers fan, no longer the focus of the attackers, manages to get back on his feet. But within seconds, he is punched and falls to the ground. As the video ends, he seems to lie on the ground unconscious. (H/TC/A)

If Joey Vento were still alive, he would have come out from behind the counter and kicked all of these morons’ asses.

Schadenfreude Update: The Rangers fan that was knocked out is an off-duty police officer from New Jersey. Oh, and the jackass who assaulted him posted the entire event on his Facebook page! He might as well carry a sign saying, “Please arrest me!”

Wearing your Rangers jersey to the Winter Classic: okay but expect to get verbally harassed (just like any other big sports city).

wearing your Rangers jersey to Geno’s (aka: into the lion’s den): it’s like wearing a sign that says “Please beat the shit out of me.” And I’m not one of those a-holes who even talks crap to other fans.

  2. BlackOrchid says:

There were a lot of Rangers fans who came down for this very special event.

It’s an embarrassment that something like this should happen. Makes me feel very ashamed. It’s not like a normal regular season game or anything

  3. Loaded Dice in Vegas says:

When my brother and his son (about 8 at the time) went to the home opener at the Texas Rangers Park v White Sox they wore Sox shirts and were treated in true Texas fashion as guests. Lots of fun talk but not one lick of violence. My brother made a lot of friends and wants to retire to Texas.

  4. Watuschski says:

Exactly why I hate that disgusting, dirty city and why I am not a fan of any of the philly teams, especially the fleagles!

  5. Wyatt Earp says:

Randal – We got Kyle and Erik Bruins/Devils tickets for the 19th at the Prudential Center (NJ). Kyle, being a rabid Bruins fan, will wear hiss black and gold, but even he knows enough to not rub it in if the B’s win the game.

Orchid – People get bent because the city’s fans have a bad reputation. But in cases like this, the reputation is completely deserved.

LDIV – Same is true in NASCAR. Fans will give you grief for your driver – especially if you’re a Jeff Gordon fan like I am – but I have never seen a fight in 13 years of going to races.

Watuschski – I love the Flyers and the Union (technically Chester), but none of the others. But yes, Eagles fans are the worst in all of sports.

    Wyatt:
Hell, I remember some friends and I going up to NYC (right after the Flyers won their first Cup) and my LARGEST buddy PROUDLY wore his Bernie Parent jersey with that BIG #1 on it…LOL.

And not ONE soul bothered us (wusses)
Hey, we didn’t look for fights…we just ended them.

Flyers fans are still (overall) the BEST fans in Philly!

Never let one bad apple spoil the damn bunch (whether its Flyers fans or LEOs)

    ;)

    Roll safe.

  7. I never understood that…..if somebody hates Red Sox fans with every fiber of their being, I hardly think they’re inclined to go easy on fans of the Bruins, Celtics and Patriots, who are basically the same people at different times of the year.

Turns out that on top of being a cop in NJ, Neal Auricchio is also former Marine who won a purple heart in Iraq

  8. AJ Lynch says:

Yeah I remember back in the 1980′s when me and a friend had to escort a Redskin fan and his little nephew to their car after an Eagles game when they were harassed and threatened by a few drunken Eagles fans.

Don’t get me wrong, I can be as rowdy as anyone [back then anyway] but that turned me off on going to Eagles games.

  9. Wyatt Earp says:

Bob G. – I went to a Flyers/Rangers game at MSG with some friends a few years ago. I was in my Gretzky Rangers jersey, but my friends were in orange and black. We all cheered for the Flyers – I cheered for both – and no one bothered us at all. In NYC.

Fenway – Great, a cop and a Marine. I hope this a-hole gets a very long prison sentence.

AJ – I won’t go to Eagles games because of the animals there.
