Yeah Mayor Squidward, Blame The Guns

By Wyatt Earp | October 15, 2011

Mayor Michael Nutter (aka mayor Squidward) is one of the most gun-unfriendly politicians in America. He makes Ed Rendell look like an NRA Life Member. He’s now railing against the National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act; because he thinks it will turn Philly into Tombstone. Guess he doesn’t read his own crime stats, huh?

Mayor Nutter has called for mayors in 600 U.S. cities and towns to gather 25,000 petition signatures opposing proposed federal gun legislation. In a letter Thursday to members of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns, Nutter said the National Right-to-Carry Reciprocity Act of 2011 would “eviscerate the ability of individual states to decide who can carry a hidden, loaded gun.”

Nutter’s letter said the legislation “would force every state to honor concealed carry permits from every other state, no matter how low they set their standards.”

So, Squidward knows better than the citizens and the lawmakers in the other 49 states? Wow, what an ego.

The fact of the matter is that Squidward doesn’t want his citizens to be able to protect themselves.

An Inquirer analysis of Florida state information showed a threefold increase in the number of Florida permits issued to Philadelphians in the last five years, with many of the permits going to areas plagued by heavy drug traffic.

I doubt Squidward wants to hear the opinion of a detective who works in one of those heavy drug traffic areas, but he’ll get it, anyway. Many of the people there are registered gun owners because of the heavy drug traffic. They own guns to protect themselves from the drug dealers, because thanks to the mayor’s fiscal policies, our manpower is the lowest in recent history.

But yeah, Mayor Squidward; blame the guns.

Thanks for stating the truth! I have Florida, Utah and Pennsylvania in order to gain the utmost advantage of veiled reciprocity when I travel.

    Thanks for your support.

And now speaking of reciprocity, look at the OWSers in Italy and France using violence. Just a matter of time till the ones here get their excuse to do the same thing. We must all repeat over and over to others that the democrats own this. Getting drum…..democrats own this..democrats own this…whew out of breath.

It’s funny how they only want lead going uprange towards the good guys and not back at the bad guys.

It’s even funnier that most of the people saying, “It’ll be just like the Wild West” don’t really know that the wild west wasn’t all about gunfights in the streets. Everything they know about history they learned in John Wayne movies, and they hate him.

What they don’t seem to understand is that when you have a good chance of being shot, you’re much more polite.
Or, as Heinlein put it, an armed society is a polite society.

I’m sitting at my desk, yeah working on opening day of deer season, with a North American Arms Black Widow strapped to my ankle, a Glock Model 20 in a shoulder rig and a Colt Trooper MARK V on my hip. I’m 20 miles away from the city and still feel “unsafe”.

    Uh…..Wyatt, you haven’t heard? There’s 57 states.

Lets see which group of individuals has a greater percentage of criminals within their ranks- concealed carry permit holders or Mayors Against Illegal guns.

Mayors Against Illegal Guns membership at one point could boast Kwame Kilpatrick, Rod Blagjoevich and former Hartford gang member Eddie Perez. All democrat grabbers- and these are just the ones who have been caught

Whatever their standards? You mean like, cheap fees, no fingerprints, no training, and only 45 days to issue? Like Pennsylvania?

Except for Philly, where they deny you for parking tickets, PA is the easiest state to get a CC license (Called License To Carry Firearms)

Well I’ve no doubt that Mayor Bloomberg will sign on the dotted line. In theory you can get a license to OWN a handgun in NYC but in practice, you really can’t UNLESS you can show that you’ve been threatened or better yet actually shot by someone else with a handgun, or your business requires you to carry a lot of cash or jewelry – you know, like in the Diamond District.
But in reality, only celebrities and those who donate BIG TIME to Democratic politicans ever get a permit to own a handgun and as for carry permits -fuggadabout it!

Truth be told, if Philly DID become “Tombstone”…betcha crime WOULD GO DOWN.

You gotta watch those mayors that signed onto the whole MAIG gig…
It’s suppsoed to be ILLEGAL guns, but the fact is that these asshats don;t want ANY guns.

Funny thing…I guess Mayor Nuttjob hasn’t figured out that FREE citizens have the right to keep & bear arms…SLAVES don’t?

    Good call.
    Stay safe out there.

[...] Wyatt offers his opinion to the Mayor on blaming the  the city’s problems on guns. Nutter’s noting that many Florida permits are going to high crime areas does not surprise me. Philadelphia routinely uses the “character or reputation” clause to deny people improperly. You can appeal, but that goes to a Board stocked with the Mayor’s cronies, and they always uphold denials. You can appeal a denial to the Court of Common Pleas, but you have to hire a lawyer to do that, and a Florida license is a lot cheaper than a lawyer. [...]
