Philly To Address Flash Mob Attacks

By Wyatt Earp | August 6, 2011

By now you probably know about the flash mob attacks that are weaving through the heart of the city.

Apparently, the story has gone national, and national press is usually the only thing to get Mayor Michael Nutter’s arse in gear. Nutter, who is currently on vacation (and was on vacation during last weekend’s attacks) is promising a larger police presence in Center City. He’s promising this at a time when manpower is at near record lows, and in the middle of summer vacation periods.

In short, don’t believe him.

One week after flash mobs wreaked havoc in center city Philadelphia, the Nutter administration says police will clamp down by enforcing the city’s existing curfew laws. The mayor’s office announced what it being described as “strict” enforcement this weekend of the city’s curfew. That law, which went into effect in 2007, says that anyone under age 14 must be home by 10pm, anyone under 18 must be home by midnight.

In addition, Gillison announced additional steps specifically for center city, where last weekend’s flash mob attacks occurred. This includes additional overtime for longer police shifts, more bike patrols, and mounted horse patrols.

Yeah, good luck with that. If you want my advice, stay out of Center city for the foreseeable future. If you have to venture into town, take steps to ensure your safety, because the animals are roaming the streets.

The barbarians have breached the walls and are trying to destroy the law abiding public. Civility is dead and you must be able to protect yourselves. Most PDs are short and are handcuffed by PC. Chicago, Philly, Milwaukee and who knows how many more big cities are seeeing this upswing in violence.

    I fear our country.

Happiness seems to be a thing of the past.

Protect your families, nothing else really matters.

    God Save the Republic.

    Stay Safe…………………….

Geez, what’s up with flash gangs? Why can’t they just keep being the idiots like those tools in the cell phone commercial?

I look for cities to start tracking text messages to stop these.

It’s for your own good after all, and if you don’t have anything to hide, why be afraid?

LDIV – Firearms help with security. Just sayin’.

Veeshir – I, for one, welcome our new freedom-crushing overlords.

Ranba – The American big city is dying. The sooner we realize that, the sooner we can move on.

Michael – I tell everyone I see to stay out of Center City. Maybe when people hurt them in the pocketbook, the city will take catching these animals seriously.

“…stay out of Center city for the foreseeable future.”

If by the foreseeable future you mean forever, then I agree.”

This whole thing is really breaking my heart.

BUT it’s not new, when I first moved to town it was “wolf packs”

we had one group of young teen yutes just walk all up Locust by Annenberg in broad daylight at lunchtime holding up everyone at the carts.

my nutty friend used to walk around with a baseball bat.

Anyway it MUST be bad, my very liberal, Mr. Philadelphia brother is saying he’s not going out much in town. that’s crazy for HIM to say this!

It’s really a shame. I don’t know what else to say. Hopefully things calm down when summer’s over and MAYBE someone can rethink the open-ended transpasses these kids get

I think Nutter is useless and the city is boned. I worked in the city for 20+ years and nowadays I wouldn’t think of going there for any reason. Living just outside the city, all my husband & I think about is when we will be able to move further away. So very sad.

Stay out of Philly?? OK.. I been doing that for years.

    Flash mobs
    Parking authority
    City Council
    Liberal judges
    Extra sales tax
Rats the size of Labrador retrievers.
    Daniel Faulkner’s killer lives.

Someone who has a LTCF will shoot and kill a couple of these kids. Then it will all be “what a great person they were” crap!

  12. Wyatt Earp Says:

Randal – Never had the pleasure, but I’ve heard great things.

Orchid – I saw the “increased police presence” on the news last night. It was about 15 bike cops riding TOGETHER down South Street. The thugs will just wait for the blue wave to ride by, then beat everyone senseless.

Jeanne – I was really high on Nutter because he seemed like he would be an effective mayor. At this point, I am yearning for a return of John Street.

Danny – And the shooter will be demonized for not sitting there and being victimized.

I again have a solution again. Not PC granted but effective. All devices that can send messages advocating killing, maiming, raping, rioting etc. will activate the 4 oz. of C4 within the device killing or severly injuring them on the spot. Problem over.

Of course there might be start up problems:

Tweeter one: DAD! Get home. Little Jimmy just covered
the dog in tar and feathers!

Tweeter two: Why I’ll kill that little monster!!!
    Opps!!!

    BOOM

  14. BlackOrchid Says:
    August 7th, 2011 at 11:01 am

It’s going to be worse than just sob stories in the Inky if a group of these kids hit someone with a CCP –

…it will start a race riot.

The bike police are a damn joke. They are ridiculous! I remember screaming for beat cops when I lived in Logan Square. I was tired of comforting tourists whose cars were broken into (or stolen!) on my block of Race. NEVER, EVER any police presence other than odd hours sitting in a car, maybe.

Other cities have a visible police presence in their main, touristy areas. These problems are south of City Hall! a very touristy/high-visibility area! It’s NUTS

  15. Wyatt Earp Says:
    August 7th, 2011 at 1:32 pm

Jon – Okay, so the bugs need to be worked out of it.

Orchid – Agreed, but one of the problems with that is staffing. We are at our lowest manpower levels since I came on this job – 17 years ago. As a result, every citizen gets screwed, and the politicians couldn’t care less.

  16. Tom Says:
    August 7th, 2011 at 2:34 pm

    Not to worry.

Mayor Nutter returns tomorrow from vacation and he will address these “isolated incidents” conducted by a small group of “troubled individuals and fun-seekers.”

An 8pm-to-6am Center City Curfew will be imposed on all White folk… for their protection.

That will work magic on Center City businesses.

    Google up WISCONSIN STATE FAIR
(2011)…that ought to clue you in…and scare the bejeesus out of a LOT of police departments.

This is ONE TIME the “lame-stream media” cannot just dust this one off…

    Roll safe.

Its all apart of whats going on on this globe. London, Middle east. Read the the coming insurrection. Its the marxism plan along with the clower & piven strategy to breakdown society (especially capitalism) overwhelm the system (economic, political, social) to the point that there is chaos, so that normal people will beg for intervension thus giving us one world government. Sound crazy but I believe it. barackolypes now!!

Tom – Bye, bye South Street!

Bob G. – I saw that earlier. Animals are out in force.

Abittercity – We’re on a fast track to Detroit status.

    Jim – Very smart move.

Larry – Rizzo is rolling over in his grave right about now.

    AA – It’s 1984!!!

Ricardo – There certainly is a race issue here, and that’s why our mayor won’t bust his hump to stop the attacks.

Cut off Welfare that is one thing that will stop this nonsense. Also allow the store owners and residents to protect them selves and do not charge them for doing so. The way they do it in the south is they use what they can to protect themselves tear gas guns what ever it takes to correct this problem. There are not enough police to the tax payers will have to pick up the slack hey its a good way to purge the city of some dead weight

I ask you why cant we use our National Guard this sould be considered at a terrorist act and the military should be brought in. Once you call in the military thats it you would never see these animals again get rid of them get them out of the city use them for hard labor
