My TiVo Has A New Task
By Wyatt Earp | March 19, 2010
And that task is to continue taping “Justified.”
The FX drama stars Timothy Olyphant (left) as Raylan Givens, a U.S. Marshal reassigned to his hometown in rural Kentucky. Raylan is one of those silent angry types who usually get on the nerves of their superiors. Givens was transferred from Miami to Kentucky after shooting a suspect outside a crowded hotel pool. The suspect pulled his gun first, and Givens refers to the shoot as “justified.”
Think of Olyphant’s character as a Wyatt Earp for the 21st Century. It’s a terrific show, in my opinion, and one in the same vein as The Shield. Tuesday night’s episode was FX’s second-most watched premiere ever. Check it out, it’s on Tuesday nights at 10pm.

I’m still pissed at HBO for canceling Deadwood. Good to see Tim has another chance at a series. In the new show does he have a Chinese neighbor with a farm with a giant hog pen for..ahh..evidence storage? LOL
Are they going to do an episode about a husky, ponytailed blogger who rides into town on a bike and demands that Givens investigate the
suicidemurder of a Census worker who was clearly executed at the behest of Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin to advance their nefarious teabegger dominionist conspiracy?///
Agreed, fantastic show. If you like Raylan Givens, check out Pronto and Riding the Rap, by Elmore Leonard, which feature Givens as the main character. The show captures the Leonard sound and feel perfectly; something that has seldom been done well in past attempts to adapt Leonard’s work.
Jon – Um, not yet.
Fenway_Nation – I think that will be the plot for episode 2.
Jon – It’s terrific, and Leonard is a genius. 3:10 to Yuma is one of my favorite films (both versions).
First time in forever I have wished I had cable or satellite or whatever you get FX on. That fella is nice eye candy, Wyatt.
Snigs – The premiere was really good, and you can probably watch it on Hulu.com fairly soon.
Hulu ?
Coolu. I don’t have cable, either.
I agree, Leonard is a genius. I think I’ve read all of his books.
Mr. Majestyk is my fave Charles Bronson movie.
JT – Hulu.com. They play entire television programs, and the site is free.
We watched that first episode and you’re right it was terrific. Now I know where I have seen that fellow, he was the sherriff or whatever of Deadwood.
