If I remember correctly, the song also says something about “if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere”.

The opposite should also be true. if you can’t make it in New York, you can’t make it anywhere. And it seems the democrats can’t make the nanny state work. Why should we expect them to do any better on the federal level?

This is what happens after forty years of using trainloads of the taxpayers’ money to buy votes from the “underclass”. Your welfare roles swell, while your tax base shrinks. You’re left with no one to tax, and cutting any spending is political suicide. So you wind up rearranging the deck chairs as the ship goes down. As someone trapped in the steerage section of the ship, I’m none too amused.
