Mad Max 4: Fury Road To Begin Production
By Wyatt Earp | October 30, 2009
It probably won’t be as good as the first two, but I need something to wipe Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome from my memory.
Twenty years on and Mad Max 4: Fury Road is about to restart the local movie industry, being filmed entirely in Sydney and Outback NSW.
The Daily Telegraph has learned that work on the film will start immediately, injecting tens of millions of dollars into the economy and creating more than 500 jobs.
There has been no confirmation yet of who will play the role of the Road Warrior but rumours abound it will be Australian Terminator star Sam Worthington, with Charlize Theron to co-star. (H/T – Daily Telegraph)
A new Mad Max film, Sam Worthington, and Charlize Theron? In, in, and in!

In a bow to political correctness, Mad Mad will become “Slightly Put Out and Grumpy Max”.
Mad Max (What was I thinking?)
Have the first two… sorta like the Alien series… number 3 just doesn’t exist.
I’ve watched the first Mad Max about 6 times the second about 12 times although a long time ago. ThunderDome twice.
I’ve always wondered what happened to the dog. When he went down into the camp around the oil well he left the dog, just a loose end I’ve wondered about.
What I’d really like to see is a remake of Sam Peckinpaws 1969 classic..The Wild bunch.
Jon : you know that was in fact Mel’s dog, as in private hi pup I’m home?
Although you do raise a good point… pup does goes away… maybe he was adopted by the other group (the ones that drove the bus).
Thanks Dano, thats pretty cool.
Proof – Okay, that’s pretty damned funny.
Dano – Well played. The first two are unbelievably awesome.
Jon – Make sure you watch the original Mad Max. The one released in the U.S. is dubbed. You need the one with the full Australian dialogue/accents.
Dano/Jon – Agreed. I didn’t know that. Awesome.
The dog was shot by a crossbow when Max wrecked trying to get away with his gas after he got the tractor for them. I can still hear his “yelp” after the thud.
There’s a youtube by the director talking about the movie and about Australian movie-making in general.
According to IMDB, that’s not Mel’s dog and the stunt man didn’t die (I’ve heard that one for a long time), he was just seriously hurt.
Veeshir – CORRECT!!! Good call. I forgot about the dog getting shot.
This could be awesome. Ir it could suck. Either way, I’ll be forking over the cash to find out on the big screen. And Sam Worthington would make a good Max.
Update: Just read on Movieweb that Tom Hardy has been signed for the lead.

Veeshir : Right on the dog being shot, brain isn’t what it used to be. Not sure about it not being his dog, my info is from dog and breed books (been interested in the breed for a long time).
You cannot believe everything on IMDB. While it is a fun place to check out, I have found factually incorrect information in there a couple of times.
Ingineer66 – So it’s like Wikipedia?
