Another Black Eye For Philly Sports Fans
By Wyatt Earp | October 6, 2009
Apparently, these people went to a hockey game and a knife fight broke out. A knife fight between Flyers fans. You have got to be kidding me.
And as always, remember this nonsense when someone tells you that Philadelphia’s sports fans are the most knowledgeable in the country.
Not. Even. Close.
On the way back from the game in Newark, in which the Flyers defeated the New Jersey Devils 5-2, one of the men on the bus called his brother, an off-duty police officer from the 18th District, and told him that there might be trouble when the bus got back in the city, according to Northeast Detectives.
When the bus pulled up shortly after midnight, three to four of the men who were waiting attempted to board the bus, police said.
The off-duty officer got out of his vehicle and, as he did so, the men trying to get on the bus instead ran towards him and began kicking and punching the officer, Northeast Detectives said.
During the course of the argument, the cop’s 28-year-old brother was stabbed once in the chest and once in the back by a man in a Flyers’ jersey, Northeast Detectives said. Another occupant of the bus, a 26-year-old man, was stabbed once in the back by a different assailant who also wore a Flyers jersey, this one with ripped sleeves, police said. (H/T – Philly.com)
Frakkin’ savages. Stories like these are why I hope this town never wins another sports championship. The hospitals won’t be able to handle all of the trauma victims.

Ridiculous. It had to be the Flyers, not the Eagles or the Phillies.
But even Flyers fans can be jackasses. I have a Flyers jersey and a Minnesota North Stars jersey hanging in my room, and my roommates don’t consider me a true Flyers fan…simply because I like other hockey teams I guess.
That’s the mentality of a lot of sports fans in this city.
One more thing to add: I know it’s tradition, but do we really have to chant, “SUCKS!!!” after every opposing player’s name is announced at the start of the game?
I’m a huge Flyers fan, but sometimes I feel like a goon at games anymore.
A little class would be nice.

Color me shocked. I thought the Flyers had priced themselves out of everyone but corporate ticket buyers. Who knew that the scumbags could still afford to go?

And you wonder why I won’t even come to Philly for free tickets to ANY sporting event there??? If I ever did, I’d wear my full combat armor and be wishing I had an M-4 for defense…

Ryan – Oh, that is fantastic!
Andrew – In this town? Never gonna happen. BTW, I love the North Stars jersey!
Lisa – They can go . . . to away games!
Old NFO – A smart move – especially if it’s an Eagles game.
