Hillary Clinton Is A National Embarrassment
By Wyatt Earp | March 7, 2009
Do me a favor. When you read this article, ask yourself how this would have been reported if the name “Hillary Clinton” was replaced by “Condoleeza Rice.”
I will bet you a year’s salary that the entire article would mock Rice as being an idiot, and the Bush administration as being a bit too sprightly with a world rival.
ABC News’ Kirit Radia reports: The Obama administration has said it wants to “reset” relations with Russia, which have again become strained in recent years, but an attempt to illustrate this was sidetracked by a translation error.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton presented her Russian counterpart, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, with a gift to mark their first meeting in Geneva today: an actual button that said “reset.”
I swear to God, I thought this was a fake article from The Onion when I read that part. But no, apparently the Obama administration thinks diplomatic relations with a country that invades its border republic (Georgia, for those of you with short memories) is all fun and games.
Or so she thought . . .
“I would like to present you with a little gift that represents what President Obama and Vice President Biden and I have been saying and that is: ‘We want to reset our relationship and so we will do it together,’” Clinton said, presenting Lavrov with the red button.
Idiotic. This entire display was completely and utterly idiotic.
What the foreign minister got, however, was a button that said “peregruzka,” which translates into Russian as “overcharge” or “overload” (depending on the context). Oops…
“You got it wrong,” Lavrov teased Clinton, but said he would put it on his desk anyway. (ABC NEWS)
Good job, Hillary. The rest of the world is laughing at us, and at our buffoonish Secretary of State. Moron.

Uh….I thought the new administration was supposed to “bring integrity back to Washington”.
Tax cheats, incompetent aides that can’t get the proper translation of something, people who can’t give straight policy answers, etc…
I was willing to give the administration at least a year before it looked totally foolish.
It’s funny, ironic, but not giggle-fest hilarity.

You could not write comedy this good even if you tried. Ah, that feeling of change.

RT – This entire situation is funny, but not “Ha, ha” funny.
Admiral – I thought it was an SNL skit.

Either of the Clintons being a national embarassment is nothing new.

I have to question the idea of giving the Russians who have so many nukes pointed at us a big red button.

The Associated Press would like Americans to believe that our representatives have no clue what they are doing. Judging from comments on the various message forums Americans are gullibly buying the simplistic explanation that our State department supposedly doesn’t know how to translate the word “reset” into Russian. Nonsense! The Russian word peregruzka appears at the top of the button, spelled in latin letters. If this was meant to be a literal translation, why would the letters be in Latin? The english translation for this word is “overload” and anyone that knows how to type a few letters into an online translation website can easily figrue that much out. An english word appears below the button and that word is “reset”. These words do very much make sense together: when something is overloaded (like a circuit), you reset it.

Ok, so first Iran disses us, then Russia (Twice) while Hillary stumbles around, then we insult the British (Twice). We insult Israel while we give terrorists in Gaza 900 million US taxpayer dollars. I’ll tell you what; Hillary Clinton is no Condoleeza Rice and Obama is no George Bush. So much for making the rest of the world love us again. The amateurs are in charge.

Hey Rebellion: THE RUSSIAN GUY SAID THEY GOT IT WRONG. That has nothing to do with the A.P.

I wouldn’t bet you a year’s salary because I know you’re right. The Bush Administration remains today the whipping boy for Democrats in Washington.

Too bad the Hope ‘N Change simplisme approach to foreign policy (or banking, the economy, much of anything else) doesn’t seem to work well in the complicated world of foreign relations.

In the Sunday Inquirer, they ran an AP story which did not include any mention of this screwed up translation by Hillary and her “smart diplomacy” team.
BTW Hillary at one time was called the smartest woman in the world. Too funny huh!
