The Weight-ing Is The Hardest Part

By Wyatt Earp | January 24, 2009

diet

Well, last week, I threw down the gauntlet . . . and promptly dislocated my elbow. I was determined to get off the gravy train and get back onto my Weight Watchers diet wagon. Exercise is also part of the plan. I walked my usual 5-mile course twice this week, and yesterday – since it was a balmy 55 degrees in Philly – I took out the bike and did five miles on that as well.

So, three days of walking/cycling, plus skating in my hockey game on Wednesday night should have produced results, right?

Right. The combination of exercise and a few days of making my point totals – and a few days of failure – made the difference. I am down one pound to go under the Mendoza Line, and sitting at 199 pounds. Yeah, it’s only a pound, but I am thinking long term here. If I can get into my 180′s by the summer, I’ll be tickled pink.

That’s just an expression, by the way, I don’t look good in pink. Although I look fabulous in mauve! Maybe I’ll buy a mauve thong for the beach. Hmm . . .

RT has her progress here.

This is running through my head on a continual loop:

    MUST…NOT…SNACK….MUST…NOT….SNACK….MUST…NOT

(Oh, I know I can have an apple or some other healthy snack, that’s not the problem)

    How’s the baby?

According to some good stuff I have read, anything more than 1 lb loss per week is going to be water and will just go back on again. In addition, as you increase the exercise, you are likely to add muscle bulk and weight.

So to loose 1 lb per week (and no more) sounds an excellent target and you have made a great start!

I’m stuck at where I was last week.

However, I am more physically active as the goat gets closer to kidding and we prepare for spring planting.

Mare – She’s well, and the 11-month old is almost walking. Now we have to run around even more.

Alan B – I’m trying, although the cycling kicked my butt. was exhausted after riding, but I haven’t done so since before the appendectomy.

Kim – Kidding? So, the goat is joking and joshing? :)

    RT – Thanks.
