Bristol Palin Welcomes A Son

By Wyatt Earp | December 29, 2008

Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin

Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin

And he’s healthy. That’s the most important thing.

Bristol Palin, the 18-year-old daughter of former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, gave birth on Sunday to a healthy 7 lb., 4 oz., baby boy in Palmer, Alaska.

“We think it’s wonderful,” said Colleen Jones, the sister of Bristol’s grandmother Sally Heath, who confirmed the news. “The baby is fine and Bristol is doing well. Everyone is excited.”

The baby’s name is Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, according to Jones.

Baby Tripp takes his surname from his dad, Levi Johnston, an apprentice electrician and former Wasilla High School hockey player who has been dating Bristol for three years. (H/TPeople)

Congratulations to mom and dad.

  1. Rick says:

    Congratulations are in order.

  2. She’s kind of hot. Wonder what her mom looks like. The boyfriend looks like Donny Osmond.

    What?

  3. Les James says:

Yeah, but you can bet he’s not Mormon.

  4. Randal Graves says:

I wonder how their wedding went???

  5. Wyatt Earp says:

    Rick – Agreed.

Captain – I’m gonna go out on a limb and say her mom looks much better than Dr. Zaius Michelle Obama.

Les – Otherwise, they’d be on their fifth child.

Randal – Yeah, because only married people have children in America. Can you hear me all the way back in 1950?

  6. Scott says:

    Randal – Good question

Wyatt – The Palins said all along that the wedding would be in December (presumably before a McCain/Palin inauguration), as I write this late December 29. Randal’s question isn’t as snarky as you seem to take it. Perhaps Levi’s mom’s problems delayed things (OK, that’s snarky).

  7. Deanna says:

I am glad that the baby arrived healthy and that Mom is doing well too. She certainly endured enough stress to possibly have complications! Congrats to the whole family!

  8. dorkelina says:

Nice, we’ve moved from nouns to verbs with this generation. I couldn’t care less if she’s married (I wasn’t when I had my first so NYAAAAH) – but for &%#’$ sake, people, give your children names, instead of opening a dictionary to a random page and picking out something!

  9. Alan B says:

Let’s hope the MSM (& blogs) leave them alone to sort out their own lives in their own way.

Once or twice dorkelina and I have not seen eye to eye but I totally agree with her over the name:

    Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston

Add a few commas and an ampersand and it looks like a stuffy firm of lawyers:

“Tripp, Easton, Mitchell & Johnston, Attorneys of Philadelphia”

  10. Wyatt Earp says:

Scott – The rest of the article said they were going to get married in 2009. That’s good enough for me. Why rush it if Levi hasn’t secured a career yet? The important thing is that when they get married, they are ready . . . and they stay married.

Deanna – Agreed. It’s about the healthy child, not anyone’s Palin Derangement Syndrome.

Dorkelina – I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Docs and nurses should have veto power for baby names.

Alan B – I’ve seen worse names. Much worse.

  11. Morgan says:

Glad to hear the baby is healthy and doing well. Congratulations to the parents and their families.

  12. Alan B says:

Names: My wife’s grandmother was named Violet Fern (Hepple – the surname)

One of her sisters was Olive Branch …

There were others. It was a time when plant names were in favour.

Mind you, children (plural) have been given as Christian names the surnames of the entire Manchster United football squad. Admittedly, not the full 53 names as in NFL …
