Philadelphia Police Kill Thug In Shootout

Career Thug Lamont Norman: Deceased.

Well, that’s what happens when you shoot at police officers three times in an hour.

PHILADELPHIA — A man who got into three separate shootouts with Philadelphia police in the span of a little more than an hour was eventually shot and killed early Friday in the Strawberry Mansion section of the city.

Good. Rot in Hell, Lamont.

The gun battles with police started around midnight and occurred on three different blocks before the final exchange at 27th Street and Taney Terrace.

Police said 32-year-old Lamont Norman had 17 prior arrests and had been living in a halfway house that he walked away from in the summer after a life of crime. He had been released in April while serving a prison sentence for a 2000 armed robbery with a gun.

“We do have several shell casings recovered, a weapon recovered,” Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said.

Giddyup! There goes the family’s arguments of “The po-po killed my baby for no reason!”

Police said plain-clothes detectives were working a burglary detail and looking for another man when Norman came out of nowhere and began firing at them.

After a second shootout with a uniformed officer and those first detectives, Norman ran to a hiding spot he knew well — a small, abandoned lot between 27th and Etting streets, which was the block he’d been living on.

That’s where a well-equipped team of SWAT officers with night-vision scopes found him as he was ready to fire again. A Fox 29 news photographer was rolling when the SWAT team swarmed the area, and the final, fatal shot was fired.

I wonder how long it will take for Fox29 to second guess the SWAT sniper?

“Violent crime is down this year, but the attacks on police are up. So that’s something of great concern,” Ramsey said.

Police said Norman’s history included robbery, weapons, drugs and aggravated assault arrests and convictions. He was sentenced in 2002 to five to 10 years in prison for that latest armed robbery, and police said it was an early release. (H/TFOX29)

Clearly a model citizen. Thankfully, he will not be terrorizing the citizenry any longer – thanks to the fine efforts of the Philadelphia Police Department.

  1. RT says:

I’m so glad no one was hurt.

  2. John D says:

Three shootouts? I guess it’s true what they say, third time’s the charm.

And don’t worry, some ambulance chasing dirtbag may still convince the family to sue the city. Not that they’d win, but they can still give it the old law school try.

  3. Ughh…that dumbass should never have seen the light of day after the first few offenses. Good for the SWAT team and officers.

“the Strawberry Mansion section of the city”

    ?

  5. Old NFO says:

Good one them, but still agree with John, y’all will STILL get sued…

  6. Easily Lost says:

That’s one way to save the taxpayers some money.
Could have saved a little more though, and nailed him the first go round. Those bullets add up you know.
Blessings to all involved. Stay safe out there.

  7. PPD 1, low-life dirtbag 0. One less possible homicide to add to Philly’s yearly tab. I’d buy that SWAT sniper a pint!

  8. joated says:

Took you guys three shootouts? If the cops were returning fire in all three, then someone needs more range time!

Seriously though, good final outcome. The price of the paperwork and a few shells will be paltry compared to putting this piece of sh*t on trial and having to house him for a few years. Great to hear no one else was harmed during the gun fights.

  9. Wyatt Earp says:

RT – No one except the thug. And who cares about him?

John D – I’m sure they will. They won’t win, though.

DL474 – Don’t mess with SWAT. They have particularly good aim.

    Woody – Sounds lovely, doesn’t it? It’s a pit.

Old NFO – Bring it on. The city’s broke, anyway.

E.L. – I’ll gladly reimburse them for the bullet money. Well worth it.

Smite – Yeah, good job to all involved.

Joated – Saved the prison system a ton of meals!

  10. Tom says:

Good bye to bad trash. Too bad it took so many bullets. Waste of tax payer money.

  11. Jason says:

I shake my head when I read the words “early release” when describing the act of unleashing a recidivist violent criminal upon society.

There should be no such thing as early release for violent criminals. If we need more space, start executing those on death row to make room and save money.

If they start with Wesley Cook (aka Mumia) I’ll write a check to the DOC as a donation. Those who remain on death row can always be released to the home custody of the “free Mumia” tards… use their million dollar homes as collateral in case the murderers skip out on home confinement.

Oh yeah, thanks to guys who put a bullet into Lamont. It seems like he had it coming…

  12. Wyatt Earp says:

Tom – But think of the money we saved by not keeping him in his cage any longer.

Jason – I think Mumia could be Susan Sarandon’s man-servant. She shouldn’t have a problem with him babysitting her kids, right?
