Did Someone Sit On A Duck?

By Wyatt Earp | November 22, 2008

It’s official: Florida has officially lost its collective mind. Maybe it’s the blistering heat, the oppressive humidity, or the hundreds and hundreds of old people traversing the highways and byways, but something is definitely wrong down there.

Why do I say this? Well, it’s because the Martin County Sheriff’s Office arrested – yes, arrested – a 12-year old boy for breaking wind in class. Read on:

NOVEMBER 21–A 12-year-old Florida student was arrested earlier this month after he “deliberately passed gas to disrupt the class,” according to police. The child, who was also accused of shutting off the computers of classmates at Stuart’s Spectrum Jr./Sr. High School, was busted November 4 for disruption of a school function.

A Martin County Sheriff’s Office report notes that the 4′ 11″ offender admitted that he “continually disrupted his classroom environment by breaking wind and shutting off several computers.” (H/TDrudge)

This is illegal now? I must have warrants out for me from coast to coast!

Seriously, as a man who has spent the last fourteen years policing the city of Philadelphia, I can tell you this is an unbelievable waste of time and manpower. The only good that can come from this nonsense is the free publicity for Martin County – and even then, it’s bad publicity: “Hey everyone, look at what the idiots in Martin County are doing!”

In my humble opinion, Florida is quickly becoming California East.

Uh…when a kid breaks wind in my class to gross out his classmates I just laugh at him. If a kid shuts off computers you send him to detention or something, not call the cops.

    How insanely, frikkin’ stupid!

Old NFO – Right across the tush.

    GroovyVic – Gassy!

RT – Agreed. Completely inappropriate use of the police.

Thank god I fled the country and sought refuge in the ROK or I’d be facing hard time. So that’s what they mean when they say that you can never go home again.

What happens if it isn’t on purpose then it’s ok? As for shutting off a couple of computers, dang can you imagine having to turn those back on? You might break a nail or something. Wonder what would happen if you got caught passing a note?

whistles innocently………… admit to nothing :D

Don’t think we’ve caught up with California quiet yet,but getting close. If we can get Gov Charlie to talk more like Ah-nold,and Alcee Hastings to dress in drag,he already thinks like Pelosi,we will start closing in on them. They already tossed our State song(offensive to minoritys),waiten for them to replace the Mockingbird, with the Red-wing Blackbird, take the bars off the State flag, probably have a image of an Airstream on that,to pay homage to the almighty God of tourism. Make of it, what you will,Martin Co.,was one of the very few east coast counties to go red?

A 12 yr old?? Disrupting a School Function sounds like a PITA misdemeanor grab but the cops should have known that this would be better off handled administratively.

    The 2008 Florida Statutes

    Title XLVI
    CRIMES Chapter 877
    MISCELLANEOUS CRIMES View Entire Chapter

877.13 Educational institutions or school boards; penalty for disruption.–

    (1) It is unlawful for any person:

    (a) Knowingly to disrupt or interfere with the lawful administration or functions of any educational institution, school board, or activity on school board property in this state.

[...] Any person who violates the provisions of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree

Maybe the kid pointed his ass at the cops and threatened to let ‘er rip.

    Go to

for a copy of the police report. I see that the kid was not arrested for criminal possession of cauliflower. That stuff loads me up like no one’s business and gives that misdemeanor all kindsa felony weight. Put his ass into rehab…

No news they can ever find in Florida will surprise me.

It is that strange down here.

Martin County is located on the Atlantic Coast of Florida. The Atlantic Coast is our really screwed up coast, because it is an area settled mostly by retirees out of places like New York, Massachusetts, and worse of all Philly. Florida’s Atlantic Coast is also an area heavy with Latino gang violence, so one wonders about the priorities here.

I fee so criminal for my drive by wind breaking this weekend at WalMart!

I am probably in trouble with the ATF since they were some silenced bombs left as I walked past the checkout lines.
