300,000!!!
By Wyatt Earp | October 16, 2008
Three years, 3,611 posts, 11,970 comments, and now, 300,000 visits.
To say that I am honored just wouldn’t do this justice, and for the first time in a long time, I don’t know what to write. There are so many people to thank that I am sure I would miss a regular reader or fellow blogger, so the group thanks thing is probably the best way to go. Thank you all for reading this drivel day after day. I still don’t understand the allure, because there are thousands of better bloggers out there, but I appreciate your patronage. Thank you, fellow bloggers, for occasionally linking one of my posts. I know the good ones are few and far between, so I appreciate your acknowledgment of them. Oh crap, I have to break my own rule: Thank you Jim from bRight & Early for the new site design and continuous upkeep. I know it’s difficult for you to not scrap this blog knowing that I despise the Phillies. Heh.
I started this blog as a stress reliever. It was a way for me to spout off on what makes me wrap my head in duct tape. It kept me “writing,” and if I ever plan to write that book, I’ll certainly need the practice. I did it for me, and not because I would ever become a success. Three years and 300,000 hits later, I am faced with the fact that I am fairly successful at this – and while I will never be the next Ace of Spades, it is nice to have a few fans.
Don’t think for one second that I don’t appreciate the readers, by the way. While we may not always agree, I always try to listen – well, except for Randal: he’s insane – and I try to respond to every single comment. It is one of those things that I pride myself upon. When someone takes the time to say something here, I always recognize it.
As far as the lucky visitor goes . . . I have no idea. Since I am still battling the flu, I didn’t get up until 11am, and you folks didn’t just break the milestone, you destroyed it! I needed about 275 hits as of midnight, so I figured I’d hit the number at about noon.
The 300,000th visit came at 9:40am, and I have had 100 more visits since the milestone. Site Meter only shows the data on the last 100 hits, so the only good information I have is for visitor #300,006. If you have info proving you’re #300,000 (or closer than 300,006), please let me know. Otherwise, this person – should he or she come forward – will receive the prize:
Imagistics International
Trumbull, Connecticut
Using Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP
Entered: 9:40am
Exited: 9:41am
Clicked the Tea Lenoi photo.
If this is you, please send me an e-mail so I can send out the DVD set. Sorry folks, but for now, it’s the best I have to go on.
Thank you all so very much! I am honored and humbled that you come here to be entertained.
Shawn
