I worked with Ms. Frazier-Lyde and she is truly one of the most honorable and non-bias individuals I have ever met. She is also passionate about those that serve in law enforcement, even though her father has had is share of racism from those in uniform. She has still honored there position. I am certain this was one of a difficult decision for her to make but rest assure Ms. Frazier no the law, loves it and will respect and protect it. If we give “selective status” to individuals and proclaim them above the law, we ourselves become accomplices to that which we are trying to govern or trying to render judgement on. I understand the unfortunate circumstances but cases are not judged in the media, nor are the judged by emotions; in contrary they are judged by the merit of the case and in the courtroom. Judge Frazier-Lyde did her job, now the quote my night have been ideal, but her statement holds weight. We are not a “selective status” society, no one or groups are above the law. Please think about this. Ms. Frazier-Lyde is a God-fearing woman who has sacrificed a great deal to be in her position, she will not forsake her values because of angry “uninformed” public nor from pressure from political or law enforcement figures. If anything comes from this we need more individuals like her who are truly transparent. In fact, we are about to put one such indiviudal who holds up the standards of ideals in office!

Maybe law enforcement needs to be included in federal ‘hate crime’ legislation. Just make assulting a law enforcement officer a federal crime. Then the feds could add charges when the local judges or prosecutors fail in their jobs.

Trixie – Done and done. Being a cop in Philly is difficult. Hell, being a cop anywhere is difficult, but I knew that when I took the job.

Kim – Believe it or not, I absolutely love my job. Not a lot of people can say that. Would it be better somewhere else? Probably, but I’m already ensconsed here. I can’t up and relocate after 14 years.

This is insane! You, Sir, need to find a different place to enjoy law enforcement. City of Brotherly Love, Philly ain’t. I know being a cop is dangerous under the best of circumstances, but if you have no protection from the very people who are supposed to prosecute and convict the very criminals you bring in, how are you supposed to do your job and maintain any kind of position of authority with the general public?

This is almost implicit approval of assaulting a police officer. Absolutely outrageous. She should be thrown off the bench.

Give the number of assaults on cops this kind of ruling is inexcusable.

If it’s possible to be as outraged as you are without actually being a Philly cop, count me in Wyatt.
