Mexican Executed After Appeal Denied
By Wyatt Earp | August 6, 2008
This case has been an ongoing battle over federal and state authority. The fact that the Mexican government filed a claim with the International Court of Justice did not help matters, either.
Mexico claimed that the United States violated the 1963 Vienna Convention by not allowing Medellin to see Mexican counsel until after his conviction.
WASHINGTON — Mexican national Jose Ernesto Medellin has been executed by lethal injection, according to Texas prison officials.
Corrections spokeswoman Michelle Lyons said Medellin died at 9:57 CT.
The U.S. Supreme Court denied the last-ditch appeal of a Mexican national on Texas’ death row late Tuesday, paving the way for him to be executed for a pair of brutal slayings, state corrections officials said.
And what exactly was Medellin crime, you ask?
Medellin was 18 when he participated in the June 1993 gang rape and murder of two Harris County girls, Jennifer Ertman, 14, and Elizabeth Pena, 16. He was convicted of the crimes and sentenced to death. (H/T – CNN)
I am not an expert on international law by any means, but the rape and murder of two teenage girls warrants a death sentence in my opinion. The world is a better place without Jose Ernesto Medellin.

One down, and a whole bunch to go… Unless Obama gets elected, then they will all be turned over to COA for ‘punishment’…
My only problem with this is that I still prefer the electric chair over lethal injection. There are so many tasteless jokes you can make with the electric chair that just don’t work with lethal injection.
Good riddance scumbag.
With what Marvin said about the electric chair; I would rather see it televised. There would be some really great pyrotechnics. How is that for reality TV?
Well, rabid animals should be put down, eh?
Sadistic scumbag.
Old NFO – Personally, I like Texas’ version of punishment better.
Marvin – Agreed, but dead is dead. I don’t care how the execution was carried out; just that it was carried out at all.
Admiral – Televising death sentences would be a deterrent. I guarantee it.
RT – And make no mistake: Medellin is a rabid animal.
You guys would love what I had to say about this one. Actually it turned into a good discussion.

Don’t mess with Texas Baby!! What a sick, twisted, coward! one of them was 14! Maaan! sometimes I want to cuss soooo bad!!
btw, how is this under ice hockey, cause they “iced” the guy?
Sssteve – It was filed under “Ice Hockey” because I was exhausted when I wrote it. Sorry about that.
Instead of the electric chair, how about electric BLEACHERS?…..its more efficient, saves energy….hey, we could even say it’s ‘green’
Medellin… hmm… isn’t that the name of a Mexican drug cartel? Wonder if there’s a connection.
We need to step up the clearing out of death row.
Dep. Polarbear – And we could fry so many more!
Mike47 – Oh, come on. Drug cartels are just misunderstood!
Rick – Can we start in Pennsylvania? I know a certain cop killer who could be the first one up to the plate.
So I take it you’re a supporter of the Fry Mumia movement?
Ol’ Mumia really needs a ‘Beer for my Horses’ moment.
Perry in 2012!
