Hugo Chavez: Philly’s Favorite Son

By Wyatt Earp | August 7, 2008

Boobs with bulbs.

It turns out that Venezuelan President/Dictator Hugo Chavez is really just a nice guy after all. He’s just misunderstood. At least that’s what the morons at The Philadelphia Daily News would have you believe:

Maybe it ticked you off when Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez called President Bush “the devil” at the United Nations last year. Maybe it didn’t.

Either way, there’s something you should know: The dude’s giving away free lightbulbs.

“The dude?” I wonder what prestigious journalism school Dave Davies attended?

Funded by Venezuela’s oil company, CITGO, a local nonprofit will be handing out 45,000 energy-efficient bulbs to low- and moderate-income folks in Philadelphia, one of 11 U.S. cities in the free-bulb program.

“They’ve asked us to do a whole series of energy-education workshops as part of the program,” said Liz Robinson, director of the Energy Coordinating Agency, which runs a series of energy assistance and conservation programs.

So that’s the bargain – come to a workshop and get information on weatherizing your home and other energy-saving measures, and you walk away with a free 10-pack of compact fluorescent bulbs, courtesy of Hugo. (The Philadelphia Daily News)

Maybe the folks at the Daily News would change their high opinion of Chavez after reading this story?

Nah, probably not.

  1. Old NFO says:

Suck ups… trying to get free stuff (which we pay for with every gallon of gas we buy)…

  2. TrekMedic251 says:

What did you expect from the anti-cop “Paper That Shall Not Be Named?”

  3. Deanna says:

I would be happier if he would give us FREE gasoline!

  4. RT says:

People are so stupid and gullible.

  5. BadIdeaGuy says:

I guess the money that Citgo’s spending on these lightbulbs wouldn’t be considered part of “big oil windfall profits,” because statists don’t believe in profit.

  6. Wyatt Earp says:

Old NFO – It’s better than getting a job!

    Trek – I expected a little more . . . even from them.

Deanna – Hahahahaha, silly child! He’s not going to do that!

RT – Especially when some “dude” is giving away free crap.

    B.I.G. – They’re communists. It’s the People’s Oil.

  7. Ryan says:

No mention in the stories about the toxic levels of mercury in each and every one of those free bulbs that require evacuation and thousands of dollars in EPA cleanup fees if broken.

Perhaps that’s all part of Chavez’ dastardly plan.

  8. Wyatt Earp says:

Ryan – Luckily, I don’t buy those hippie bulbs.
