Randal – most Americans are willing to vote for a qualified candidate no matter what color he is. I once voted for Frank Rizzo and I once voted for Wilson Goode when he ran against Rizzo. So I have been open-minded (and wrong as it turned out re my Wilson Goode vote). I voted against John Street and moved from the city when he was mayor.

Does that make me racist? I fear Obama will be a total incompetent like Goode and Street. If he is, it will set race relations back about 50 years. Give me a candidate like Colin Powell or JC Watts anyday.

Clinton was just as much an avid ‘free trader’ as GWB is.
Honestly, if you look at the simple fact that the US went from being the largest creditor nation in the world to being the largest debtor nation in the world over a 40 odd year span would indicate that it’s a bipartisan problem.

Though I’ll say that Bush’s ‘borrow and spend’ policies have a lot to do with it.
Given a choice between ‘tax and spend’ vs. ‘borrow and spend’, I’ll take taxes every time simply because I’m not burdening my grandchildren with my selfishness.

That is why Obama will be elected in a landslide. Too many people worry about what others think of them. they worry that if they don’t vote for Obama, they’ll be perceived as racists – even though he has no experience, and no ideas. He’s a socialist wrapped in an eloquent speaker. Nothing more.

I never said you were a racist for it. I think you were making a joke, so I would never claim to know what goes on in your mind. But imagine if someone came to the blog and the only thing they saw written by Randal Graves was that comment. What would they think?

Of course there are people who don’t like Obama because they’re black. If that’s their only reason, then they’re idiots. There are just as many people who don’t like McCain because he’s white. Come to work with me, and I’ll show you dozens of them on the streets of North Philly. They’re idiots as well.

Words are just that: words. Actions make a racist, not some stupid comments.

You’re not really gonna try to pin me with the racist crap are you? Any comment in the William’s sister’s post was an obvious joke and you know it, so there’s no comparison. I’m glad you linked it, because now people can see that a typed stutter is an obvious attempt at humor; it may not have been a funny joke to some, but it was a joke.

Face it, one of the reasons that Old Soldier (and I’m sure others who post here) doesn’t like Obama is because he’s black; he’s entitled to his opinion.
