Manson Follower Will Die Behind Bars

By Wyatt Earp | July 15, 2008

When you get to Hell, tell \'em Itchy sent ya!

When you get to Hell, tell 'em Itchy sent ya!

And her hideously painful death cannot come soon enough.

(CNN) — Susan Atkins, a terminally ill former Charles Manson follower, has been denied a compassionate release from prison, the California Board of Parole Hearings said Tuesday on its Web site.

Atkins, 60, has been diagnosed with brain cancer and has had a leg amputated, her attorney said. In June, she requested the release, available to terminally ill inmates with less than six months to live.

The board’s decision came after a public hearing on Atkins’ request. It means the request will not be forwarded to the Los Angeles Superior Court that sentenced Atkins.

Oh, come on, where’s the compassion?

According to historical accounts of the murder, Atkins stabbed Tate, who was eight months pregnant, and scrawled the word “pig” in blood on the door of the home the actress shared with director Roman Polanski.

By her own admission, Atkins held actress Tate down and rejected her pleas for mercy, stabbing the pregnant woman 16 times. (H/TCNN)

Oh, never mind.

  1. Old NFO says:

Sadly she was not electrocuted, which is more than she deserved… She has gotten to live all these years.

  2. Typicalwhitey says:

Do those Manson followers realize that they wasted their ENTIRE lives on him?
No husbands, no children, no homes, jobs, going to your parents funerals….nothing.
I hope as she dies that last words ringing in her ears are those of Sharon Tate pleading for the life of her child.
How could someone be so cruel?

  3. John D says:

Note to Susan Atkins and her supporters:

This is why they call it a LIFE sentence. Duh.

  4. Rick says:

She deserves to rot in prison. No early release.

  5. Momster says:

It always amazes me that the same people who never showed an ounce of mercy toward their victims are the same one that plead the loudest that mercy be shown to them.

  6. Ky Person says:

I can’t hate her, but justice is justice. She didn’t give Sharon Tate and her baby any chance at all. And it was all because that thing Manson said so. Now him I can hate.

  7. Wyatt Earp says:

Old NFO – Compared to Sharon Tate, she already received mercy from a state treats its inmates like vacationers.

TW – She didn’t care then, and I don’t think she cares now – about anyone other than herself.

John D – Amen to that.

Rick – In my opinion, she deserves the death penalty.

Momster – It shouldn’t amaze you. That’s the nature of the beast with thugs.

Ky person – He certainly deserves all of our scorn.

  8. Mikeb302000 says:

It sounds to me like you’re talking about revenge rather than justice. I don’t think prison should be about revenge. Prison should be about keeping the violent maniacs off the streets. Non-violent criminals, the white-collar kind, should pay for their misdeeds with money and community service. Violent ones should be released when they’re no longer a threat. This poor girl with one leg and mush for brains, what’s the harm in showing compassion to someone like that?

  9. Mope says:

    Mikeb302000-

Violent ones should be released when they’re no longer a threat.

She won’t be a threat in about six months.

This poor girl with one leg and mush for brains, what’s the harm in showing compassion to someone like that?

She is not a “poor girl”- what does economics have to do with anything? The harm in releasing vermin like this is the hope to other vermin that justice won’t be sure and swift— ask Mumia.

  10. Wyatt Earp says:

MikeB – You’re kidding, right? She admittedly held down Sharon Tate and stabbed her – and her unborn child – to death while Tate pleaded for her life.

Would you feel the same way if Atkins brutally murdered a member of your family?

Mope – Ah, Mumia. Living large on Death Row for a quarter of a century after shooting a Philadelphia police officer point blank in the face. Yeah, maybe we should let him go, too.

  11. Mope says:

Ah, Mumia. Yeah, maybe we should let him go, too.

I’m sure ol’ Mike wouldn’t have a problem taking in a border, temporarily, just until he got on his feet…. He hasn’t killed anyone in 25 years.

  12. AJ Lynch says:

Ah the great state of Caleeeeeeefornia. Where even Sirhan Sirhan gets a parole hearing every year or two.

  13. Mike47 says:

Even the title of our state prisons agency is bullsh*t: “Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation”. Correct what? Rehabilitate who?

  14. Snigs says:

If instead of “justice”, this had been revenge, she would have been held down while Sharon Tate’s family members stabbed her to death.

Compassion is best saved for folks who deserve it- this woman doesn’t.

  15. mikeb302000 says:

No thanks, I don’t want Mumia for a border, or anyone like him. I’m just saying the vengeance that some of you are espousing is bad news. Compassion and forgiveness, that’s the thing.

I realize it’s easy for me to say because, thank God, nothing like this has ever happened to a member of my family.

  16. leoni2 says:

I’m sorry, but when someone is given a life sentence, they should serve out the sentence. Otherwise, what is the point of calling it a life sentence?

  17. Mikeb:

Vengeance is Mine Says the Lord!
    Brain Cancer…giggle.

  18. Wyatt Earp says:

Mope – And I’m sure he’s all murdered out now. Heh.

    AJ – Well, he only shot a Kennedy . . .

Mike47 – It’s the kindler, gentler pokey now!

Snigs – Agreed on all counts.

MikeB – Compassion and forgiveness doesn’t work against everyone. But if you want to try that hand with alQaeda, be my guest.

    Leoni2 – Wow. How Zen!

Captain – It’s funny because it happened to her.
