Israeli Suicide Panics Sarkozy Security
By Wyatt Earp | June 24, 2008

Good grief, if there is anywhere you think you would be safe, it is in Tel Aviv’s airport surrounded by Israeli troops
JERUSALEM (CNN) — An Israeli soldier committed suicide at Tel Aviv’s airport during a departure ceremony for French President Nicolas Sarkozy, prompting security guards to whisk Sarkozy and his wife into their plane.
The soldier — a border policeman — shot and killed himself several hundred meters away from the ceremony on the tarmac at Ben Gurion Airport. The sound of the gunshot sparked an immediate security alert.
“A shot was heard in the ceremony area,” an Israeli government statement said. “ISA (Israeli Security Agency) immediately decided to activate emergency procedures. VIPs were moved into their protected vehicles.” (H/T – CNN)
Sources said that the gunshot left Sarkozy with a “croissant” in his pants. Heh.

Admiral – I was not trying to get too graphic. I must be mellowing in my old age.
RV – Thanks! Glad you found the new place.
Doghouse – He probably carries a white handkerchief in his suit at all times.

There are some things you can prevent, and others you cannot. That’s entered into the “cannot” category.
